**Location - **This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person. Work primarily takes place at North Campus, Edmonton.

**Working for the Department**
The inflammatory bowel disease unit of the Division of Gastroenterology consists of 6 gastroenterlogists, 4 IBD nurses, treating approximately 5,000 IBD patients. Our research projects are aimed to improve treatment and outcomes for our patients.
**Position**
**Duties**
- Screening, recruitment and enrollment of potential study participants, including informed consents.
- Responsible to receive and store biological samples.
- Provides education and counseling to participants regarding protocol requirements, study treatment schedules, the use of data collection tools and follow-up visits.
- Ensures that study participants are efficiently monitored and that safety requirements are implemented as necessary; accurately and promptly reports Serious Adverse Events as dictated by protocol.
- Addresses patient concerns and troubleshoots via telephone and/or in person.
- Identify relevant study variables in Connect Care and transfer to designated database according to REB approved protocol.
**Minimum Qualifications**
- Bachelor of Science or Licensed Health care worker, in combination with suitable experience in a clinical research environment; equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- 1-2 years' experience working with patients in a clinical/research setting or in a medical office environment or other customer service environment.
**Preferred Qualifications**
- Clinical knowledge is preferred in order to interpret clinical data that will be collected
- Knowledge of Clinical trials, training in Good Clinical Practices Guidelines (GCP) and International Council on Harmonization Guidelines (ICH) preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly developed sense of tact and diplomacy; ability to work successfully with a diverse group of people
- Evidence of strong analytical skills, ability to coordinate multiple tasks and projects
- Experience with medical charts in Connect Care preferred
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications; knowledge of electronic database like Redcap would be an asset
