New employees must provide documentation of a 2-step TB screening, as well as proof of immunity to measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella (chickenpox) prior to their start date at St. Mary’s General Hospital. **Staff will require clearance from Employee Health and Wellness before they are able to begin any position within SMGH.
**Position Summary**:
The Health Records Technician will code and abstract health records using ICD10-CA&CCI, _following CIHI coding standards. The Health Records Technician will be operate in accordance with Hospital Policy and appropriate legislation. _**_The Health Records Technician will release patient records in accordance to all appropriate legislation. _**_Other duties as assigned. _
**_Position Requirements: _**
- Graduate of recognized program for Health Information Management (Health Records Technician) _
- Must be a current member, in good standing, with CHIMA at the Certified level. _
- Must have at least two (2) years of recent, related experience in DAD and/or NACRS coding _
- Preference will be given to those familiar with the Cerner, 3M and Microsoft Office. _
- Must be familiar with the applicable sections of the Public Hospitals Act and Personal Information Protection and Electronics Documents Act _
- Acceptable applicants must keyboard at a minimum of 50 w.p.m. _
- Extensive knowledge of current medical terminology, good spelling and grammar essential _
- Possess good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills _
- Must have a positive work record; Good attendance is essential _
