NAIT is looking for an experienced, innovative social media specialist to join the Department of Marketing and Communications. Reporting to the Senior Communication Manager, External Communication, the Communications Specialist (Social Media) manages NAIT’s corporate social media accounts and ensures all social media efforts align with NAIT’s priorities, brand and content strategy.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Establish direction for social media within the context of a new content strategy, ensuring all social media efforts align with NAIT’s priorities and brand and are informed by social listening, audience insights and content performance
- Develop and maintain a social media content calendar in collaboration with other content producers in Marketing and Communications, as well as staff in NAIT business units
- Manage NAIT’s corporate social media accounts, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and TikTok, ensuring consistency of brand and voice
- Monitor and engage with followers on social media, including responding to relevant messages and comments and working with the student service team to provide social customer service
- Develop effective and engaging organic social media content, both written and visual, that our audiences can enjoy and learn from, and contribute to NAIT’s content hub, techlifetoday.ca
- Identify opportunities to leverage content assets across our social platforms, with specific emphasis on the stories we tell on techlifetoday.ca
- Ensure analytics are tracked and reported on for all social campaigns and posts
- Oversee brand reputation management on social and search engine platforms, such as Google and Wikipedia
- Renew user-generated strategy, including the development of student social ambassadors that align with NAIT’s priorities and brand
- Stay up-to-date on emerging social media best practices, technologies, techniques and tools and provide ongoing recommendations for new social initiatives and tactics to deliver on NAIT’s priorities
- Guide and support department and program staff to help them meet their social media needs in alignment with business goals and objectives
- Nurture and enable NAIT’s social media account managers
- Serve as a key member of NAIT’s emergency response communication team
**Skills & Abilities**:
- Solid understanding of social media marketing communication and inbound marketing strategies
- Highly proficient with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn (required), TikTok (preferred)
- Exceptional English language writing, editing, proofreading and oral communication skills
- Knowledge of CP Style
- Experienced visual storyteller
- Experience understanding and interpreting web and social media analytics
- Solid understanding of emergency and issues management
- Critical thinker, with strong editorial judgement
- Excellent planning, project management and time management skills
- Ability to foster strong working relationships and thrive in a busy team environment
**Qualifications**:
- Minimum four years’ experience managing social media channels and developing engaging content as part of an organizational strategy
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in communications, journalism, English or an acceptable combination of education and experience
- Membership in IABC or CPRS an asset
**Remuneration**:$2,472.94 - $3,276.34 bi-weekly, plus a comprehensive benefits package
