The Opportunity:
2-4 month work term: Starting May/June - August 2023

How You Will Contribute:
The Routing and Switching R&D Operations team is hiring an R&D Lab Operations Summer Intern for Ciena’s Santa Clara and Ottawa Labs.
- Working with the Santa Clara and Ottawa Development lab teams
- Learn about remote Data Center Management tools to monitor and control the lab
- Helping with Inventory and of lab assets counts. This includes lab space, lab racks, test instruments, optical XCVRs, fiber, cables, etc.
- Handling lab equipment maintenance, calibration, and repair
- Supporting the preparation of lab test gear for projects based on HW design team specifications
- Learning the lab safety protocols, ESD practices and good lab etiquette
- Ensuring asset tracking and inventory procedures are followed properly, and keeping an accurate inventory of all assets

The Must Haves:

- Interest in Computers, HW & SW
- Willingness to learn about Lab equipment and Test Tools used for manual and automated testing.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory.
- Programming and scripting skills, web, bash, expect, python, Perl, JSON
- Having strong interpersonal skills is essential.

Assets:

- Engineering background would be a strong asset.
- Project Management experience would be a strong asset.
- Experience in electronic labs is a plus
