Construction EHS Specialist

for an **18-months contract** position. This position reports into the EHS Manager and is based at Guelph, Ontario.

**What will you do**

The Construction EHS Specialist will be Safety Direct Responsible Individual (DRI) for managing EHS protocols on an expansion construction project at the Guelph site. The position will supervise, implement construction safety plan, developing and reporting leading and lagging indicators and complete proactive training and review of daily job site requirements. Communicate EHS critical issues with internal and external construction teams and collaborate for corrective actions. Additionally, this position will support existing manufacturing business on contractor’s safety programs, improving safe work practices like; PTW, LOTO, WAH CSE. This is an 18-month contract with following responsibilities:

- Key Responsibilities

- Manage and implement the construction safety plan in collaboration with construction contractors and sub-contractors by setting performance criteria and indicators to meet Kenvue safety standards and regional regulations O.Reg 213/91 and 851.
- Manage permit to work system for issuance, handover and termination of construction permits under various trades.
- Develop training packages, presentations and reporting matrices to create awareness and improve processes.
- Identify risks and define control measures (through safe work practices, Job Safety Analysis, Tool-box talks).
- Carry regular safety checks and inspections and issue daily, weekly and monthly reports.
- Records and investigates accidents and incidents; performs Root Cause Analysis on EHS issues.
- Other duties as assigned.

**What we are looking for**

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree with preference in Civil, Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or Environmental Health & Safety.
- At least 4 years of experience in EHS management on a construction site within manufacturing environment.
- In-depth knowledge of provincial and federal construction safety regulations.
- Self-starter who is comfortable working autonomously.
- Experienced in EHS auditing and training.
- Employee will be required to be on site in Guelph.
- Desired Qualifications
- Working towards membership of Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (CRSP)
- Knowledge of ISO-45001, 14001 and COR programs
- Make sure to indicate if any specialized software or other technical skills are required to perform job responsibilities.
