**PURPOSE**:
The Payroll & Benefit Specialist will manage the full cycle of both the Canadian and US payroll as well as administering the employee benefits.

You will play an important and strategic role in all payroll related initiatives and projects while having full responsibility of the payroll. You will be responsible for the payroll tax and account reconciliations, year-end reporting as well as the gathering of documentation required for the 1% Training Investment Act.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES**:
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

- Process Canadian and US payroll on a biweekly schedule in accordance with the labor standards act and Kitco policies and procedures.
- Maintain payroll information and ensure accurate and timely processing of updates and changes related to employee information as well as corporate and governmental requirements and regulations.
- Ensure payment of commissions, manage benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
- Assembling reports of payroll earnings, taxes, deductions, leaves, and non-taxable wages, as well as providing finance with all other reporting required.
- Working with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure benefits and payroll services are delivered.
- Calculate taxable benefits in regards to group insurance, reward programs or any other benefits.
- Calculate vacation accrual amounts and assure the accuracy of the balance showing in the payroll system.
- Maintain and ensure the proper allocation of payroll expenses to each department.
- Year end reconciliations and filings of tax slips and all government forms.
- Ensure payroll and all government remittances are respecting all laws and regulations.
- Maintaining confidential information by adhering to legal and ethical standards.
- Provide information to employees on payroll matters, tax issues, benefit plans, performance management software and other benefit programs.
- Plan and administer different employee benefit programs as well as work anniversary and annual awards celebrations.
- Participate in different initiatives and special projects related to payroll and/or HR.
- Calculate and submit the 1% Training Investment Act bill 90 reporting and maintain proper documentation.
- Report work report incidents to the CNESST.
- Coordinate RRSP/DPSP sessions between the employee and the plan advisor as needed.
- Submit employee contributions to the RRSP/DPSP plan.
- Responsible for calculating, submitting and corresponding with the bank in regards to the RRSP program.
- Prepare and execute the appraisal processes in our HRIS.
- All other tasks as required.

**REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES**:

- Proficiency with Excel.
- Strong knowledge of payroll tax and CNESST labor regulations.
- Knowledge and experience using an HRIS an asset.
- Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and work well under pressure with a high degree of accuracy.
- You can comfortably interact with employees of all levels of experience and seniority, across the organization.
- Highly discreet when dealing with sensitive employee payroll and benefit matters.
- Organized, efficient, with the ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Strong communication skills. (oral and written)

**TECHNICAL / PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES: (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE)**
- Minimum 5 years’ experience with Canadian payroll.
- Experience in US payroll processing with working knowledge of US tax withholding regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting or a related field.
