**LOCATION**: Maple Ridge, BC
Cythera Transition House Society is seeking a temporary part-time Group Facilitator to support our Counselling Services Program. In this role, the Group Facilitator will lead structured group sessions designed to provide a safe, supportive environment for individuals impacted by domestic violence. The facilitator will focus on helping participants reduce social isolation, develop coping and communication skills, and gain knowledge to support personal safety and well-being.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Education, Training, and Experience**:
- Diploma in a related human / social service field.
- Two (2) years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience; Experience in facilitating groups specifically for survivors of domestic violence is required, with a demonstrated ability to maintain stability and safety within the group setting.
**Additional Requirements**:
- Clear Criminal Record Check is required.
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- Valid and unrestricted Class 5 BC Driver’s License with access to a safe and reliable vehicle.
- Position requires Union Membership.
**Shift/Schedule/Hours per week**: Temporary PT, 14 hrs/week - Until May 31st, 2025; with a possibility of extension
**Expected Start Date**: ASAP
**Wage/Salary**: starting at $29.17/hour
**Grid Level**:12**ACCOUNTABILITIES**
- Conduct group sessions, workshops, and courses focused on building skills in areas such as communication, anger management, stress management, parenting, self-esteem, and other topics relevant to domestic abuse prevention and recovery.
- Recruit and select program participants based on their individual skills, needs, and readiness for group involvement.
- Plan and organize group sessions in accordance with program manuals or guidelines, tailoring content to fit participants’ skills and specific needs. Prepare for each session by reviewing relevant materials.
- Promote the program by distributing brochures and posters, sharing information on social media, and making presentations to community organizations to raise awareness and encourage participation.
- Conduct evaluations and obtain client feedback on the effectiveness of group sessions, including content delivered and facilitation style. Report any challenges or issues to the supervisor.
- Maintain contact with clients between sessions to offer follow-up support, which may include reviewing course materials and addressing individual client needs.
- Maintain accurate records and reports in accordance with established policies and procedures, ensuring confidentiality and proper documentation.
- Stay informed about community resources to provide relevant information and referrals to clients, and to enhance program delivery.
- Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring that necessary facilities, equipment, and resources are available. Ensure adherence to program guidelines, policies, standards, and licensing requirements.
- Recruit, select, orient, train, monitor, and provide support to program volunteers to ensure effective program delivery and participant support.
- Make recommendations to the supervisor regarding program development, policy and procedure formulation, and overall program evaluation to ensure continuous improvement.
- Promote public awareness and support for the program by producing promotional materials and attending community events.
- Liaise with community service providers and other professionals to coordinate service provision, facilitate referrals, and represent the program in external events.
- Perform other related duties as required to support the program’s success and mission.
**KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES**
- Extensive knowledge of domestic violence dynamics and the ability to assess an individual’s readiness for group participation
- Ability to facilitate groups for women, adapting to the differing needs of each group
- A strong understanding of trauma-informed care principles is essential, as is familiarity with intervention strategies tailored to address the complexities of domestic violence
