Environment and Protected Areas support Albertans in being proud stewards of air, land, water, and biodiversity by leading the work required to support environmental outcomes, outdoor recreation and sustainable development of natural resources.

The Public Lands Policy Section within the Lands Policy and Programs Branch leads the development of policies and legislation for crown land management with an emphasis on management of biodiversity, industrial & commercial development, recreation, reclamation & contaminant remediation, and rangelands.

The Agriculture, Commercial and Industrial (ACI) policy unit is responsible for the policy development of agriculture, commercial and industrial activities on public land. ACI Policy supports the effective management of public lands by keeping legislation relevant, developing and updating policies, ensuring public land is well integrated and supports government of Alberta priorities including Alberta’s economic prosperity in consideration of environmental and social policy.

**Role**:
Reporting to the Manager of Agriculture, Industrial, Commercial Public Land Policy, the Public Land Policy Analyst is responsible for project management (from design to execution) to develop or amend rangeland related legislation, regulations, policies and guidelines.

The Public Land Policy Analyst will lead the development and implementation of policies, tools, and strategies for rangeland management and other areas of public land activity or allocation that support department and GoA priorities.

Roles and Responsibilities:

- Lead the development of policies and programs related to effective management of rangelands on public land to enable long-term sustainability of crown lands.
- Develop and maintain relationships and strategic alliances with internal and external stakeholders to promote shared stewardship of Alberta’s public land and rangelands.
- Ensure Forestry Parks and Tourism staff are supported in implementation of rangeland-based legislation and policy initiatives.
- Lead and manage a variety of processes and projects through integration of diverse and multi-disciplinary initiatives.
- Strategic thinking and ability to analyze complex issues and synthesize into recommendations.
- Excellent organizational management skills to balance multiple demands and timelines.

**Qualifications**:
University degree in Agriculture, Rangelands, Natural Resources Management, Public Administration, Public Policy plus 4 years of experience in project and issues management. Equivalency will be considered.

**Required**
- Rangeland Management, agriculture practices and natural resource management.
- Anticipate future issues and impact on multiple Ministry mandates/strategies/ commitments.
- Build productive relationships within and across Ministries, GoA and other stakeholders.
- Analyze complex issues and synthesize findings into recommendations.
- Work independently with general direction.
- Relevant information systems and business productivity tools (e.g. Microsoft Office)
