**Compensation**:$42.35 - $43.95 per hour

**BC Hepatitis Network**

The BC Hepatitis Network (BCHep) is a provincial non-profit organization that provides viral hepatitis education, connection to services, and advocacy. We work with people living with hepatitis and partner with community-based organizations, the BC Centre for Disease Control and government to address concerns about viral hepatitis prevention, care, access to treatment and support.

The **BC Viral Hepatitis Elimination Roadmap Planning project (the Roadmap)** is comprised of organizations and individuals working together to eliminate viral hepatitis across the province, beginning with a roadmap for hepatitis C elimination in BC. The Roadmap project will be informed by consultations and engagement with priority groups and connected organizations.

The objectives of the Roadmap Project consultation and engagement process are to:

- engage diverse partners,
- learn about the current state of viral hepatitis in BC, define targets and goals for elimination, determine strategies for achieving elimination by 2030, and
- identify necessary resources and modifications.

**Position Description**

The Community Engagement Specialist’s (CES) overall role in the Roadmap Project is to ensure robust community-based engagement, from all around BC. The CES will work with project staff and project Working Group (WG)s to engage individuals and groups in urban, small urban, rural and rural/remote communities in the Roadmap planning process.

The CES will work with the Roadmap Project’s Co-Leads and the Project Management Team, the three Roadmap Project evaluation consultants and with 6 project working groups.

The CES will be supported by BCHep staff and the Project Management Team.

**Contract Responsibilities**
- Internal collaboration: work with BCHep staff, Roadmap Project Team, evaluation consultants and working groups to develop outreach and engagement plans
- Implement outreach and engagement plans
- Act as a resource and support to WGs, support survey recruitment and engagement with PWLLE, coordinate PWLLE Engagement
- Administer PWLLE honoraria
- Maintain close communication with Project Team and co-Lead Deb Schmitz

**Qualifications**

**Education and Experience**
- Relevant education and minimum 3 years experience leading community engagement and facilitation
- Direct experience working with or for one or more populations impacted by viral hepatitis
- Knowledge of viral hepatitis and factors impacting health and health care access an asset

**Required Skills**:

- Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
- Facilitation and engagement planning and implementation.
- Strong background in community engagement, particularly with groups that experience stigma and discrimination.
- Ability to self-direct and prioritize tasks to achieve project deliverables.
- Ability to establish relationships with diverse project partners, staff and communities around the province.
- Excellent computer literacy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
