Mississauga, Canada Peel Regional Police Full time

As a **Specialist-Return to Work **within our **HR Health and Safety **department, you will be responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring individualized return to work plans for all members returning from an STD, LTD or WSIB leave, as well as assessing all accommodation requests and participating in PRP's re-integration program, establishing criteria to support the capabilities/limitations prior to initiating exposure therapy.

**What will your typical day look like?**
- Develops and implements a corporate-wide Return to Work Program; assessing the workplace for positions and operational needs and implementing a graduated return-to-work initiative.
- Considers the roles, responsibilities and accountabilities of key stakeholders with a common goal of employee recovery and communicates the benefits, challenges and outcomes. Assists Supervisors and employees with return-to-work issues including modified scheduling and job accommodations.
- Manages safe and timely return to work activities. Develops creative and flexible return to work options. Develops, monitors, coordinates and implements individualized stay at work (SAW) and/or Return to Work (RAW) plans for all members returning from an STD, LTD or WSIB leave.
- Evaluates the return to work outcomes and monitor return to work placements. Conducts regular progress meetings for all parties including employees, claims manager, treating physician, association and supervisors.
- Facilitates the return to work and accommodation process in compliance with legislative requirements, PRP policy and collective agreements. Works with the Accommodation Committee to identify placements for employees on the Permanent Accommodation List, comparing Functional Abilities Evaluations to physical and cognitive demands of identified jobs
- Develops, implements, evaluates and revises temporary and/permanent accommodation programs and communicates regularly with the employee, manager and association to ensure the success of the plan, with consideration to Legislation, Policy, and Collective Agreements.
- Works with the Disability Management team to evaluate the person-job fit to the potential placement and performs matches for physical/cognitive demands on jobs to compare with the employee's restrictions; arranges and facilitates more in-depth assessments, medical interventions, utilization of specialized resources or consultations.
- Conducts case assessments, contacts employees, supervisors, benefit providers and health care providers to explain the disability management process and gathers information for return to work planning process.
- Critically analyzes case files for other health related factors which may influence recovery time, early and safe return to work, eligibility, and seeks further medical documentation if required
- Maintains and manages statistical data and provide routine reports on modified work program, return to work program as directed by the Health and Safety Manager and/or Supervisor Disability Management
- Assesses and mitigates barriers to a successful return to work, including physical and psychosocial factors and implements strategies to support employees with staying at work, returning to work or an appropriate alternative plan.
- Conducts and maintains job demands analysis (physical and psychosocial/psychological) of all PRP positions.
- Develops organizational awareness/training and understanding of roles and responsibilities in the return to work and accommodation process. Provides return to work education to new employees during orientation sessions and educates management on sound return to work practices.
- Develops a communication strategy with all stakeholders (employees, management, association, WSIB/LTD representatives, attending physician) to ensure that injured/ill employees remain connected to the workplace.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.

**You are someone with**:

- Post-Secondary diploma/degree in Health Sciences (Nursing, Kinesiology, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy), or equivalent. Certified Return to Work Coordinator (CRTWC) or Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP) preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of four years' experience in Disability Management Return to Work solutions is required, of which 2 years must be working with WSIB claims.

- Demonstrated knowledge of Disability and Return to Work practices and processes
- Effective oral communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated written communication skills
- Demonstrated time management and organizational skills
- Demonstrated problem solving skills
- Working knowledge of Human Resources Management Systems (HRMS) and Parklane Disability Management System preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of related disability and human resources legislation pertinent to the function including the Occ
