**Job Summary**:
The Community Connections Mentorship Program (CCMP) creates opportunities for newcomers to meet with mentors and partake in a wide range of activities related to employment, civic engagement, arts and culture, to help establish social and professional networks so that they are engaged and feel welcome in their communities. The Program Worker recruits, trains, appreciates volunteers and matches them with newcomers, provides ongoing support to both mentors and clients, and engages with the community to support program activities overall.

In-person work at one or more sites is required, depending on public health conditions. The Program Worker must also be proficient with technology and online tools (for example Zoom, Teams, Google Meets), and able to support clients to participate in virtual programs using technology and online tools.

Maintaining positive relationships with partners and CultureLink colleagues is essential to program success. All agency staff are also expected to support each other and collaborate on agency-wide initiatives.

**Duties**
- Develop outreach materials, and recruit newcomers and volunteers, screen, train and orient volunteer mentors;
- Organise volunteer appreciation events;
- Match newcomers and volunteer mentors;
- Outreach and partnership-building initiatives with businesses, public agencies and institutions to explore strategies to engage volunteer mentors;
- Consult and do a needs assessment with newcomer groups to build linkages between newcomers and immigrant serving agencies and the broader community;
- Organize community dialogue sessions that will build knowledge and action supporting a welcoming community for newcomers;
- Review client background information, interview clients to obtain case history, needs assessment and prepare intake reports;
- Assist clients to sort out options and develop plans of action while providing necessary support and assistance, and referring them to other social services;
- Meet with clients to assess their progress, give support and discuss any difficulties or problems;
- Coach and assist mentors with establishing mentoring goals,a plan of activities; monitor the process and outcome of matches;
- Maintain program statistics using applicable report systems.

**Required Work Capacities**
- Physical demands: sitting at a desk for computer work (50% of the workday) and meetings; lifting (files, laptop, and program supplies up to 5 kg); working in an open office
- Non-physical demands: travel between worksites; occasional deadlines; a variety of tasks
- Social/emotional demands: teamwork; relationship/network-building; exposure to emotional situations; working closely with the public, clients and colleagues
- Cognitive/mental demands: attention to detail; self-supervision/autonomy; multitasking; organizational ability/time management, adaptability, sound judgement, effective written communication

**Qualifications**
- Post-secondary program or degree in a relevant field or a combination of equivalent experience and education
- Three years of community work experience
- Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening within the past six months
- Fluency in languages other than English is an asset
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English
- Facility using digital outreach tools and social media (i.e. Instagram, Facebook, Twitter)
- Competency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 1.5 month

**Salary**: $28.10-$29.81 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
