**Job Summary**:
Reporting to the Director Health Promotion and Foundational Standards, the Manager Analytics and Informatics is responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership related to trends in health status, priority populations, emerging public health issues, and developing data-driven strategies to support public health initiatives. The manager leads a specialized team, managing public health data systems and health informatics that inform programming and interventions using data, population health assessment, surveillance, research, and epidemiological investigations and projects.

**Education**:

- Master’s Degree in Science, Health Sciences, Biostatistics or equivalent Degree in Epidemiology.

**Knowledge**:

- At least 3 years’ experience in epidemiologic surveillance, population health approach, data governance, health informatics, and research in a public health, health care, social services, or similar setting.
- At least 5 years’ experience in a management/supervisory capacity.
- Advanced knowledge of quantitative Epidemiology, including descriptive analyses, power and sample size calculations, regression analyses, epidemiologic study methodology, outbreak and cluster investigation, experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software and systems, experience with one or more of SAS, SPSS, Stata statistical packages.
- Membership in the Association of Public Health Epidemiologists in Ontario (APHEO) is preferred.

**Responsibilities**:
**_ Plans, implements, monitors, and evaluates the delivery of public health programs, interventions, and initiatives in compliance with the Ontario Public Health Standards and local needs. Additionally,Community surveillance,epidemiology programs, departmental performance indicators, and the ethics review board activities, providing methodologic and epidemiologic expertise across the region (25 % of time)._**:

- Provides expertise and oversight to surveillance, health assessment, research and epidemiologic studies as required by the Ontario Public Health Standards and departmental priorities. Evaluates the effectiveness, acceptability, availability and cost-efficiency of programs in Niagara Region Public Health in collaboration with key internal partners.
- Provides analytical expertise on the development of annual business plans that align with the Corporation's Business Plan, Niagara Region Public Health & Emergency Services strategic direction, and the Ontario Public Health Standards related to trends in health status and related risk behaviours, incorporating this knowledge into divisional program response (i.e. evidence-based decision-making)
- Makes business decisions based on an accurate understanding of program, intervention and population health data
- Determines opportunities for continuous quality improvement initiatives, ensuring resource availability
- Participates on internal and/or external committees and task forces, attending meetings to receive information, plan strategies and disseminate information to appropriate work groups
