**Purpose**:
Under the general supervision of the Director - Human Resources, provides day-today supports to employees and managers; compiling and maintaining accurate employee records; administration of the Collective Agreement and various program and organizational policies; preparation of reports and documentation, tracking and maintaining professional development programs, assisting with the facilitation of the health and safety program, benefits program administration, performance management support and other projects as assigned.

- Knowledge of _Employment Standards Act, Ontario Labour Relations Act_ and _Occupational Health and Safety Act_
- Experience working in a unionized setting
- A negative Police Vulnerable Sector Check
- A valid class G driver’s license and proof of insurance
- Daily access to an insured vehicle
- Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) training or willingness to obtain
- Current Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) or willingness to obtain
- Able to lift at a minimum 20 lbs. from squatting to standing position
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset

**Experience**:

- A minimum of three (3) years related employment experience

**Duties**:

- Responding to functional Human Resources inquiries from Program Managers and employees; forwarding complex inquires to the HR Director as appropriate
- Collective Agreement interpretation and monitoring issues that impact the Collective Agreement
- Responding to employee inquiries regarding the Collective Agreement, Personnel policies, benefits entitlements, and HR related policies and processes
- Complete WSIB forms as necessary
- Supporting with full-cycle recruitment activities on an as-needed basis; partnering with the Program Managers to perform interview; screening and recruiting for entry level, professional and technical job openings
- Provide backup HR orientation for new staff and be the point of contact for all HR inquiries
- Assisting with the implementation of new policies and procedures to affect organizational effectiveness and efficiency
- Administration of the agency’s group benefit package including reviewing and implementing changes as necessary
- Maintaining accurate and complete employee records, including all personnel filing; compile regular reports as requested relating to employee data, i.e.: hires, transfers/promotions, absenteeism rates, performance reviews/ratings
- Draft and produce confidential reports, including grievance and arbitration files
- Develop letters and correspondence to employees - leaves, terminations, employment changes
- Conducting audits of HR data and programs; provides recommendations for remedial action as required
- Assist in coordinating student placements
- Assisting with training program administration and development; track and schedule mandatory training sessions to ensure compliance
- Preparing standardized formal employee communications; creation of documents and templates
- Aiding with organizational research, succession planning and compliance initiatives
- Helping maintain wage structure, position documentation and evaluation system
- Conducting exit interviews as requested; tracking and providing the HR Director with analysis and recommendations
- Assisting HR Director in developing resolutions to employee concerns; participating in investigations as requested
- Facilitating and participating in meetings as requested by the HR Director
- Completing other duties and projects as assigned

**Knowledge/Skills/Abilities**:

- Demonstrated computer skills, proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work cooperatively and independently with mínimal supervision and as part of a team
- Effective problem solving and decision-making skills
- Excellent interpersonal/verbal/written communication skills
- Knowledge of _Employment Standards Act, Ontario Labour Relations Act_ and/or _Occupational Health and Safety Act_ considered an asset
- Demonstrated ability to create positive interactions with all employees, while maintaining an approachable disposition
- Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality of information and exercise good judgment and discretion in handling and disseminating information
