What we're looking for:
The HRBP/HR Manager partners with functional managers in the implementation of corporate policies and the adherence to these policies by all employees, and overall serves as a business partner to coach and sparring partner on business issues as they arise. The role manages the employee relations programs including but not limited to; employee counseling, interpretation of policies, statutory programs, new employee assimilation and onboarding, employee individual development, organizational development and company performance management programs. The HRBP/HR Manager assists senior management in the development of solutions through organizational development, cultural and process-oriented perspectives. This role requires a collaborative approach to the larger HR community, including working within the HR Shared Services model to ensure excellence at all levels and understanding of needs/requirements of Canadian operations. HR NA projects are also included in this role; helping ZEISS succeed overall in NA.

What you'll do:
- Acts as a resource for employees and managers; provides general information, policy interpretation, and support on employee issues. Consults with employees and managers to address root cause of human resources issues and works to resolve conflicts. Resolves employee relations issues through a systematic approach. Investigates formal employee complaints and recommends next steps. Conducts termination interviews and compiles statistical reports and information. Ensures the proper legal review has been conducted to minimize exposure and liability while ensuring fairness and adherence to our values and obligations.- Serves as the local expert on employment law topics, ensuring that ZEISS is fully compliant with all applicable statutory requirements and ZEISS related compliance expectations. This position must have a broad range of experience and knowledge on legal topics related to employment status, separations, benefits, leaves, special need situations, etc. The incumbent should be comfortable with recommending course of actions in challenging situations without always needing to rely on external legal counsel, although must know when a matter should be escalated to legal experts to ensure liability mitigation for the organization.- Go to person to support the resolution of employee relations topics, generates enthusiasm and taps into the ZEISS pride in the workforce, identifies and supports teambuilding activities, etc. supporting the overall positive morale and cohesiveness of the workforce- Assists Head of HR and other senior managers in the development of solutions through organizational development and cultural and process-oriented perspectives. Provides strategic organizational structure consultation to client groups, including talent assessment and development, and employee empowerment.- Working collaboratively with NA HR Team to develop interpret and recommend HR program goals and objectives.- Supports managers as a coach and sparring partner to resolve business and employee related topics.- Works with leadership team to ensure strategic priorities are aligned to people strategies.- Provides HR training to managers and employees as required including CurioZ, external sources, etc., which facilitates organization and leadership development efforts.- Works with senior leadership in Canada to ensure benefit and leave programs are supportive of the Company’s objectives and appropriate from a cost perspective, using data to support our decision making relative to benefit-cost ratio.- Manages and administers all benefit and leave programs, managing vendor relationships and service delivery to employees. Works directly with HRIS team to configure vendor integrations.- Uses data and HR analytics to identify trends, opportunities, etc. Ensures data in WD is accurate and reflects organizational structure.- Participates in company-wide programs and initiatives including workforce planning, performance management and organizational change.- Executes actions related to employee life cycle, including hiring, termination, promotion, transfer, etc.- Facilitates approvals and tracks status, including employment offers, pay changes, bonus payments, tuition reimbursements, external training requests, etc.; communicates status to stakeholders.- Plans and conducts new employee onboarding to foster assimilation to ZEISS and increased time to productivity.- Ensures compliance with all HR policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.- Conducts and reports on exit interviews- Creates and maintains reports using WD; tracks and maintains data for reporting KPI’s and other metrics.- Works closely with HR Team to promote and implement employee development initiatives.- Analyze trends and metrics; partner with management to develop solutions related to personnel issues and/or development needs.- Working with compensation team and alone to support managers in the preparation of job
