**Overview**
- **Assistant Project Manager**_reports to and communicates regularly with the Senior Project Manager and/or Project Director/Executive and oversees specific project activities, while being an integral part of the decision making process for related aspects of the project. This includes, but is not limited to, external and internal reporting, performance, costs, schedule and quality. This role ensures project profitability, schedule tracking and compliance, and the overall satisfaction from all project stakeholders. In addition, this role understands the Health and Safety Program, oversees Project Coordinators and will collaborate with the Project Superintendents; maintains an excellent relationship with sub-trades, suppliers and clients; provides leadership and direction to other members of the project team._

**Key Responsibilities**

**Job Knowledge & Technical Skills**: Assist or lead in planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, and closing a project. Possesses the experience required to manage all aspects of the project and the site team, with the understanding of construction methods, systems, materials, and practices. Has a refined understanding of building concepts, principles, and construction methods. Involved in Pre-Construction activities including tendering, subtrade/supplier selection, site logistics, permit requirements, General Conditions, Insurance and Bonds and schedule.

**Contract Management**:Support and/or lead, the tendering process, including the preparation of bid packages and subcontractors’ scopes of work. Be the point of contact and company liason during the pre-construction phase. Attend Owner and subcontractor pre-award meetings, and project start up meetings. Demonstrates a strong knowledge and understanding of both the prime contract and subcontracts. Contracts may include Lump Sum, Design-Build and Construction Management.

**Risk & Financial Management**:Develop and maintain a Risk Register, including forecasted risks, potential risks, cost and/or schedule impacts, as well as solutions to mitigate the risks. Manage budgets and timely submission of billings. Hold Owner accountable to payment timelines as per contractual requirements. Identify revenue opportunities independently and in collaboration with the Senior Project Manager and/or Project Director/Executive. Have an understanding of the Construction Act.

**Planning and Scheduling**:Develops or assists, implements and maintains, a comprehensive schedule ensuring accurate sequencing and resource allocation to meet contractual requirements with guidance from the Senior Project Manager and/or Project Director/Executive. Proactively monitors, revises, and clearly communicates schedule revisions to all project stakeholders.

**Health & Safety**: Strong level of understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Frontier GroupsSafety Program. Maintains a standard of excellence with respect to workplace safety through the commitment and cooperation of Matheson Constructors and our employees.
