**What can I expect to do in this role?**: In this role, you will:

- Coordinate, direct and evaluate health care programs.
- Ensure the delivery of efficient, quality health care services including nursing, medical and other related health care services, specialized treatment units, and on site infirmary.
- Manage the pharmacy program, including ordering, reconciling, and distributing, and ensure the maintenance and security of all medications, office equipment and medical treatment supplies.
- Coordinate various physiological tests (e.g. urinalysis, TB testing, blood tests) and the preparation of referrals for psychiatric, treatment, X-ray, optometrist, laboratory, dental and physiotherapy.
- Develop, plan and implement the delivery of health services education programs for both inmates and staff.
- Maintain records and statistics to identify trends and developments that have critical program/service delivery, policy and planning implications and formulate recommendations for mitigation.
- Establish critical liaisons with other correctional health care providers to establish and maintain professional linkages and consult regarding contentious issues.
- Respond to enquiries from the Ombudsman and other sources with respect to offenders on health care matters.

**How do I qualify?**:
**Mandatory**:

- You are a Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.

**Leadership and Management Skills**:

- You can plan, co-ordinate, manage and direct the day-to-day delivery of healthcare services in an unionized environment.
- You have proven skills to manage staff, provide leadership, coach, direct and foster an engaged and inclusive environment.
- You have knowledge of project management principles and methodologies to meet operational program deliverables.

**Nursing Knowledge and Expertise**:

- You have knowledge of health care administration and evidence-based health care practices.

**Technical Knowledge**:

- You have knowledge of human resources practices, collective agreement provisions, financial and administrative policies, quality management, and continuous improvement practices.
- You have knowledge of relevant legislation, such as Regulated Health Professions Act, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, and Mental Health Act.
