MacEwan University is seeking a detail-oriented Communications Specialist for a full-time continuing opportunity within Academic Affairs. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Office of the Provost and Vice-President, Academic, you will prepare verbal and written communications that demonstrate the full range of scholarship and diverse perspectives across Academic Affairs in support of the Office of the Provost and Vice-President, Academic (OPVPA), which includes developing and maintaining a communications plan, designing digital media projects, preparing speaking notes, developing and executing stakeholder engagements and coordinating communications with colleagues.

Key responsibilities include:

- Developing, implementing, and evaluating verbal and written communication strategies for the Office;
- Developing and distributing content for Academic Affairs (e.g., Provost’s monthly newsletter);
- Developing and maintaining annual communications planning;
- Drafting and coordinating communications in consultation with colleagues;
- Researching industry best practices and trends;
- Providing communications support and expertise within Academic Affairs, including writing and editing content; and
- Assisting faculty with disseminating research works and coordinating with academic departments for other podcast and knowledge mobilization needs.

**SKILLS**

You will have:

- Strong reporting skills;
- Strong active listening, speaking and elicitation skills;
- Excellent grammar and writing skills, with knowledge of style guides;
- The ability to work with a high level of accuracy;
- The ability to conduct independent research, compile reports and interpret data;
- The ability to write quickly and fluently for a variety of audiences and communications platforms;
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deliver on a variety of commitments and deadlines;
- The ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment;
- The ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion and tact; and
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including SharePoint and Teams.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience with public relations and communications projects in a professional organization.
- Experience in communications planning, writing communications and creating promotional materials.
- Experience designing content for digital platforms, including Microsoft Sway.
- Experience working in a post-secondary environment would be considered an asset.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
