Elk Island Public Schools Central Services building is located in Sherwood Park, at 683 Wye Road. Providing services for the Division, Central Services is comprised of eight departments, in addition to the Board of Trustees. The departments include Education Executive, Communication Services, Facility Services, Student Transportation, Human Resources, Financial Services, Supports for Students and Information Technologies.?

As a member of Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) and Supports for Students (SFS) leadership team, the Assistant Director of SFS supervises, coordinators and assists in efficiently delivering various aspects of the organization's Supports for Students department. The Assistant Director of SFS, supervised and directed by the Director of Specialized Supports - Supports for Students, plays a crucial role in the implementation of SFS goals, strategies, procedures, and programs to support the overall priorities and goals. This includes supervising, supporting and giving direction to consultants as well as the multidisciplinary teams with which they work.

**Key Activities**:
Providing leadership and supporting schools related to the implementation of the expectations of the Ministerial Order, Teaching Quality Standards, Education Act and other legislative requirements.

Supporting school teams in areas such as Violent Threat Risk Assessment Protocol (VTRA), Crisis Response and other emergent issues.

Working with multidisciplinary teams and schools to provide guidance and direction for System Programs.

Supervising, implementing and analyzing pilot projects including the implementation of the Education Assistant Internship Pilot Project.

Supervising delivery of coordinated, responsive and timely supports to schools that are focused on building capacity of educators.

Overseeing budgets, as necessary.

Supporting the implementation of SFS practices and objectives that will ensure high-level functioning of a proactive and responsive SFS department.

Collaborating with the Director of Specialized Supports to provide supports and services to the schools they oversee.

Overseeing multidisciplinary teams to ensure services directly support building the capacity of administrators, teachers, counsellors, and educational assistants to program for students and to support the implementation of the curriculum.

Leading committee work, as necessary.

Working collaboratively with all departments and schools to plan, organize and facilitate professional learning days for teachers, supports staff and leadership.

Supervising multidisciplinary teams providing support to schools in differentiation and supporting students with varying needs.

**Education and Experience**:
Bachelor's degree in Education. Master’s degree is considered an asset.

Valid Alberta Permanent Teaching Certificate

Valid Alberta Leadership Certificate

3-5 years of experience in administration; counselling experience or work with specialized system programs is considered an asset.

**Knowledge and Skills**:
Demonstrated ability to lead a team and collaborate with multiple stakeholders.

Superior knowledge of teaching and learning.

Extensive knowledge of students requiring specialized supports and services.

Ability to manage complexity under stressful situations and time constraints.

Ability to plan and align department work objectives to the Division’s goals and priorities.

Experience in providing instructional leadership at a school or divisional level.

Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning processes, instructional design techniques and evaluation methodologies.
