Reporting to the Learning Solutions & Program Integration Supervisor, and under the direction and review of the Training Specialist II, the Training Specialist I position will work within a team of other training professionals to deliver training to Fleet & Facility Services’ staff including the New Employee Orientation program, safety initiatives, systems, equipment, and standards.
**_ Training Development, Delivery and Administration_**
- Develop, deliver and maintain training curricula and/or recommend vendor programs that meet the instructional goals and objectives for group and/or individual training
- Formulate training outlines and determine best-fit solutions to support on-the-job and formal learning objectives Utilize a variety of training methods including eLearning, story based, web based, etc
- Incorporate innovative learning tools such as Storyline, Captivate, Articulate, 3D simulators, and video technology to enhance programs
- Incorporate requirements related to legislation, operations, City policies, directives, and procedures in the development of teaching materials for audiences with varying skill and educational levels
- Coordinate and perform the administrative functions necessary to deliver and document training programs e.g. populate Fleet & Facility Services training calendar and class outlines, contact vendors, etc
- Utilize Learning Management System (LMS), roster sheets and filing system to ensure accurate training data is appropriately captured and maintained in the system.Accurately run regular and ad hoc reports from various systems as it relates to training delivery, expiries, gap reporting, or as requested by clients
- Proactively monitor and resolve registration issues
**_Training Needs Assessments and Support_**
- Conduct client-focused assessments based on established evaluation methods and prepare documentation for review by the Training Specialist II and/or supervisor
- Draft training timelines and schedules that will achieve the client’s needs and seek appropriate approvals
- Provide on-site training needs assessments to determine interdependencies between the primary systems as it relates to the operational functions
- Develop training aids in alignment with the established templates including: training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, and reference materials
- Translate known operational requirements to the appropriate (M5, P6, SAP, Google) technical team to continually refine the systems functionality and reporting capabilities
- Performs quality assurance checks on training matrix/catalog to align to LMS configuration and infrastructure
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training and development programs as a team, and utilize relevant evaluation data to revise or recommend changes in instructional objectives and methods
- Perform other related duties as required
**Qualifications**:
- University Degree in Education, Communication,or a related University Degree combined with post-secondary coursework Adult Learning
- Minimum of two (2) years experience in the curriculum development and delivery, program maintenance, evaluation and course facilitation of adult training in an operational environment
- Expertise in developing course curriculum for and to adult learners
- Ability to effectively interpret and translate technical processes and terms to a level consistent with the audience’s knowledge and learning needs
- Experience with a variety of delivery methods including elearning, face-to-face, web/story based
- Significant knowledge of computer systems and training techniques and understanding system inter-dependencies; experience with SAP, M5 Fleet Management software, Google and P6 scheduling tools preferred
- Competence with Google and other job specific software
- Excellent writing skills to develop a variety of training materialsEffective and adaptable communication/presentation skills to support a variety of learners
