**General Description**

**Duties & Responsibilites**
- Support the capital fund and internal loan management process by monitoring, reporting and projecting the McMaster Capital Reserve and Central Bank.
- Provide reporting and reconciliation support for capital and other sections of the multi-year financial projections.
- Prepare financial information and reports for committees and groups..
- Perform the accounting for funding sources, loan transactions, journalizing and internal loan agreements for capital projects.
- Prepare year-end working papers for annual University financial statement audit and in accordance with financial auditor requirements.
- Act as the primary contact for reviews or audits by external agencies (including CRA), as well as internal research offices.
- Analyze all US research grant related operations and determine indirect cost rates based on U.S. Department of Health & Human Services guidelines.
- Prepare financial information that will be submitted and used for research-related University rankings.
- Ensure proper year-end cut-off by reviewing all subsequent high-value payments and journal entries.
- Write and complete sections of the annual financial report.
- Participate in external capital-related surveys.
- Identify issues and develop approaches to address them and implement corrective action.
- Scrutinize, analyze, and reconcile detailed financial reports and records.
- Perform accounting and reporting functions for external subsidiaries.
- Prepare comprehensive financial statements, tax filing and consolidations, including ad hoc reporting as requested.
- Provide advice on the restructuring of accounts for proper management control and streamlined reporting.
- Review and ensure completeness and accuracy of all journal entries to balance sheet accounts.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the University to develop, recommend and implement structures, policies, processes, programs and resources to ensure accurate, consistent and complete financial reporting for the University.
- Remain current with project costing software, including the PeopleSoft FSCM module.
- Prepare the University’s reporting for HST returns, rebates and remittances.
- Prepare direct and indirect tax analysis.
- Maintain and enhance a variety of spreadsheets including complex formulas and equations.
- Develop customized complex spreadsheets for ad-hoc reports, queries, and financial analysis.
- Prepare fee remittance for student groups.
- Coordinate with the Real Estate, Ancillary Operations and Partnerships to prepare the related party year-end memo.
- Coordinate annual maintenance of financial reporting software including back up, lock down, rollover, access and licenses, and enhancements.
- Develop training material and train system users.
- Upload and balance financial statements.
