Reporting to the Senior Manager, Recreation Planning and Development, this position is responsible for overseeing recreation facilities and programs to provide services to the public to meet operational and customer service goals.

Responsibilities include: leadership and planning in the areas of strategic planning, cultural and recreation programming, special event planning and implementation, marketing, sponsorship development, facility maintenance and administration and scheduling with the goal of optimizing community participation and engagement.

**What can I expect to do in this role?**:
As the Manager - Community Centre you will:

- Oversee the service delivery of multiple recreational sites and their program offerings, facility maintenance, service contracts and bookings within the complex.
- Ensure program offerings, partnerships and customer service are inclusive, diverse, and accessible and in alignment with department strategies and plans.
- Develop and implement a customer service plan to ensure quality service to users, maintaining the corporate image and ensuring that the facility programs and services are profiled in a positive manner.
- Establish customer service level standards and set performance expectations. Respond to escalated customer complaints.
- Oversee customer service delivery for a portfolio of facilities to meet expected Service Level Agreement responsibilities.
- Build positive and effective working relationships lease holders, facility user groups, advisory boards and all facility visitors and staff.
- Direct and oversee non-union, unionized, and part-time teams delivering, administering, and servicing recreation and culture programs and customer service in multiple locations.
- Recruit, supervise, train, and develop staff to improve efficiency and performance in compliance/ adherence with internal Human Resources policies and legal and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and update operating and capital budgets and business cases for multiple business units at multiple sites.
- Liaise with local tourism, business, school boards, community organizations, other internal departments to ensure events are successful and maximize local economic development and community impact.
- Follow legislative and industry best practices to provide training and ensure that due diligence is carried out in oversight of all program and service delivery.
- Oversee an asset management program for all program and administration equipment to ensure program assets are managed through the full life cycle.
- Oversee compliance with Occupational Health & Safety Act (OH&S) requirements, industry best practices, audit requirements, risk management, etc. and recommends new or updated policies and procedures.
- Ensure a shared responsibility culture is maintained with the Facility Services team to ensure continuity of service.
- Develop and manage business and marketing plans, operating budgets, financial systems and revenue generation while working with internal department staff and external community resources.
- Track trends, best practices and changing community needs to ensure appropriate service delivery.
- Implement quality assurance systems for all components of service delivery.
- Maximize the use of the complex thorough cooperative programming initiatives, direct programs, partnership arrangements, special events, rentals, and other uses.
- Work with Facility Services to ensure maintenance resources and establish systems for preventative maintenance, equipment maintenance, health and safety, energy management, security, asset management, housekeeping management and quality assurance are adhered to.
- Ensure that due diligence is carried out in all areas of risk management and health and safety training. Report and follow up on all incidents, accidents, property damage and theft, ensuring that the facility and work practices conform to relevant policies, procedures and legislation.
- Develop outreach services to the surrounding community and establish a presence with the community.
- Manage program based capital projects.
- Being part of an on-call management team for building operations that will rotate to cover specific recreation and cultural facilities pending vacation schedules and emergency situations.
- Be part of a management team to develop priority setting for the department capital programs on an annual basis and projections for a 10 year period.
- Preparing written responses and reports for the department and Director on diverse topics related to recreation service delivery.
