Alex House is looking for a caring, passionate, creative and flexible individuals to join our dynamic childcare team as a **School Age Educator **temporarily for the Summer**.**

**Purpose and Responsibilities**:
Our Temporary Summer **School Age Educator **will work in a fun and creative environment and will collaborate with a team of School Age and/or Early Childhood Educators to plan, develop and deliver Summer Camp daily activities, that support and promote the health and development of children 4.5-12 years of age, using the Reggio Emilia approach to learning alongside the BC Early Learning Framework. This position will help support our Fresh Air Summer Camp programs at one of our 5 Summer Camp locations. Other responsibilities include developing strong relationships and communication with children, families and colleagues, and implementing high standards of care and supervision that promote the well-being of all children. Guide, support and supervise children on neighbourhood walks and/or field trips in the community. Our Fresh Air Summer Camp School Age Programs are provided at a variety of locations such as childcare facilities, schools and community centres, generally between the hours of 7:30-5:30pm. Long term positions available during the school year for before and after care (7:30-9:00 and 2:00-5:30pm and full days on school break days. Extended hours maybe available in our under 5-year-old child care programs). And other related duties as required.

**Qualifications Required**:

- At least 19 years of age
- ECE an asset. Or a successful completion of one or more courses, of at least 20 hours duration in child development, guidance, health and safety or nutrition
- First Aid certificate
- Guiding, caring and understanding children’s needs from 4.5-12 years of age an asset
- Experience working with children (5 - 12 years of age) including those with special needs and their parents/guardians
- Strength in creating and maintaining a supportive and collaborative partnership with families
- Understanding and/or willingness to learn and implement the Reggio Emilia approach to learning
- Creativity, flexibility, initiative, enthusiasm and sense of humor
- Passion for on-going professional growth and development
- Planning, organizational, and communication skills
- Proven sound judgement, ethical decision making, ability to stay calm under pressure and appropriate personal and professional boundaries

**Terms - Temporary Full-Time Summer Camp School Age Educator position (40 hours/week with potential for permanent part-time during school year)**

**Salary**: -$18.72-$22.88 -depending on qualifications the hiring range is ANH Band C1-Band C2
