**The start date will follow the selection process.**

This position is eligible to work remotely on a full-time basis (Note: Must have the ability to be able to report to a City of Greater Sudbury work location on short notice).

**Characteristic Duties**:Under the general supervision of the Manager of Children’s Services

1. Interview applicants for subsidized child care and determine their eligibility according to the applicable authorities (e.g. legislative, CGS policies, Early Learning Funding Agreements, etc.).
2. Take appropriate action to verify financial information gathered and determine parental contribution for child care through the Ontario Child Care Management System (OCCMS).
3. Prepare and review income reduction calculations as applicable, considering all eligible sources of income and expenditures.
4. Review self-employed earnings for sole proprietors, as applicants, to determine eligibility.
5. Prepare necessary forms and related correspondence including budget worksheets, case notes, providing all the necessary information to the client.

7. Confirm children’s placement with the respective child care agencies and monitor child care registry, ensuring that placements are made in accordance with Early Years Funding Agreements and CGS policy.
8. Resolve client or centre related problems, maintaining a constant relationship with the child care centre operators.
9. Maintain liaison with the appropriate agency (e.g. consultation with the Children’s Aid Society concerning children at risk, Child Care Resources Group concerning special needs children, etc.).
10. Conduct off-site visits and participate in internal file audits.
11. Review and process payments to child care agencies to verify accuracy and consistency with CGS policies. Monitor expenses and overdue accounts
12. Assess and calculate child care subsidy overpayments; bring terminations due to overpayment to the attention of the Manager of Children’s Services; arrange repayment options, follow up with client on formal collection process.
13. Compile monthly statistics and monitor the level of service in each contracted program to ensure that allowable capacity is
not exceeded, when applicable.
14. Conduct formal training and orientation sessions for service providers, and attend inter-agency child care services meetings, as required and applicable.
15. Implement and participate in the development of marketing strategies (i.e. presentations/marketing materials).
16. Participate and contribute to the review and development of policies and procedures, providing supporting anecdotal information to fully inform the process.
17. Advocate for applicants to the child care centre operators, Manager of Children’s Services or CGS Finance department, as applicable and required, with respect to child care subsidy eligibility and/or child care overpayments.
18. Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of CGS's Safety Manual and the applicable Provincial Legislation listed therein
19. Perform other related duties as required.

**Qualifications**:

- Successful completion of a Community College Diploma in a human services program.
- Over two and one-half (2½) years up to and including five (5) years of related work experience.
- Some knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills required for effective client communication.
- Possess facilitation and presentation skills to present internally and externally.
- Ability to organize work, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and/or collaboratively with a range of interrelated services and agencies.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise judgement and tact and make timely decisions.
- Excellent use of English; verbally and in writing.
- French verbal skills and a good working knowledge of written French is required.
- Satisfactory health, attendance and former employment history.
- Must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, possess a valid driver’s licence, have an acceptable driving record, and personal insurance coverage.
