**About Our Opportunity**:
As a leader in evidence-based policy development and an expert in government corporate processes you will support the creation of health and social policy options that align with the strategic direction of the Department of Health and Wellness (DHW), the Office of Addictions and Mental Health (OAMH) and the Government of Nova Scotia. You will ensure recommendations being made to Departmental senior leadership, Executive Council Office and Treasury Board staff are based on substantive analysis and best practice while promoting and supporting the development of effective health system policy and processes. You will also manage a dynamic team that corporately supports the Department’s goals and direction as well as oversee all internal processes that facilitate the team’s work.

The primary focus of this role is the development of policy, legislation, regulations and the development and oversight of accompanying project management tools, decision documents and approval processes. You will implement a consistent modern approach to strategic and regulatory policy by using a client-centered philosophy and strong project management skills to lead policy work among DHW and OAMH staff.

**Qualifications and Experience**:
This role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field (such as social science, public administration, business) with several years of progressive experience in areas such as policy development, strategic orientation, program evaluation, and provincial government processes, as well as time in a team leadership role.

As a successful Manager, you will:

- Bring a solid understanding of health and social system policy with experience and knowledge in collecting, synthesizing and interpreting data with a goal for analysis and delivering sound advice.
- Possess significant experience following, developing and improving upon corporate processes with the objective of optimizing efficiency for all users.
- Demonstrate the ability to effectively manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Have a clear communication style and ability to collaborate with stakeholders and brief senior officials on complex health system issues in plain language.
- Have experience in managing government submissions (Treasury and Policy Board/ Executive Council), budgets and external reporting requirements.
