Position Summary:
In support of McGill’s development mission and under general supervision of the Associate Director of Donor Relations, the Stewardship Officer facilitates the delivery of centrally-run stewardship programs and acts as a resource for stewardship partners across University Advancement. The incumbent manages stewardship strategies to effectively communicate the impact of giving to mid-level donors and to engage them in the life of the University. The Stewardship Officer develops and implements strategic communications as well as ensures proper documentation and communication of stewardship plans and efforts.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement university-wide comprehensive stewardship strategies for mid-level donors. Participate in the development of a program to ensure consistent and comprehensive stewardship of McGill’s mid-level donors.- Manage stewardship programs designed for mid-level donors and align these with fundraising strategies; participate in regular assessments to ensure appropriate implementation of donor recognition programs that will encourage donor engagement and strengthen relationships between donors and McGill University. Utilize data to evaluate the effectiveness of stewardship programs based on feedback and performance of segments and utilize this information to improve stewardship initiatives.- Participate in the development and implementation of stewardship strategies to ensure that mid-level donors receive timely and appropriate impact communications. Explore and utilize multiple mediums for impact communications.- Develop a series of initiatives to recognize McGill’s mid-level donors.- In partnership with the Communications team, participate in the creation of innovative stewardship communications that will engage donors through social media and other digital communications vehicles.- Collaborate in a proactive manner with various Faculty and University Advancement partners to secure consistent and strategic engagement of mid-level donors across the units.- Collaborate with centrally-based partners and liaise with Faculty teams to establish appropriate, segmented and customized acknowledgment communications.- Collaborate with partners in Advancement Operations to ensure ongoing monitoring of compliance with gift agreement terms.- Ensure cultivation and stewardship activities are aligned with university-wide strategies and stewardship standards.- Manage stewardship initiatives for special projects such as University-wide fundraising projects.- Participate in the ongoing maintenance and development of the Stewardship Profile as well as codify stewardship obligations and opportunities in collaboration with Advancement Operations. Report regularly, as needed, on stewardship metrics.- Working closely with the Associate Director, participate in the mapping of requirements, testing, and evaluation of deliverables as part of the implementation of and transition to a new CRM.- Foster strong, collaborative and mutually-beneficial relationships with stewardship partners within University Advancement and across the University.- Perform related duties; some evening or weekend work may be required.

Other Qualifying Skills And/Or Abilities:
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Donor Relations and Stewardship.- Direct experience preferred in a non-profit or educational setting with a proven track record of successful project and relationship management. Expertise in data management/analysis- Must be results-driven, a self-starter, and highly motivated with a leadership and interpersonal style that fosters constructive and productive relationships with diverse constituencies.- Must be client-focused, with excellent listening, negotiating, problem solving, planning, priority setting, and organizational skills.- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to manage multiple projects within tightly prescribed timetables.- Demonstrated ability to operate in a PC environment, using MS Office and client-server database software.- Knowledge of French and English. McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing.
