**PLANNING AND PERFORMANCE SPECIALIST**

**CONTRIBUTING TO THE CMPA**

Safe Medical Care Learning (SMCL) is central to the CMPA’s vision of being a learning organization. The department’s core activities include design, development, delivery, and evaluation of CMPA's Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs and learning products as well as accreditation, administrative, and production support of these products and services. Digital learning products contribute to a blended learning approach and are readily accessible through the modernization of the CMPA website. The department utilizes state of the art pedagogical science to share knowledge and improve practice of members and their teams while also contributing to the internal learning needs of CMPA staff, leaders, and governance through internal collaborations.

**POSITION OVERVIEW**

The Planning & Performance Specialist provides strong analytical and professional expertise in support of strategic and operational planning, performance measurement, continuous quality improvement, and reporting activities within the Safe Medical Care Learning department

Reporting to the Lead, Learning Outcomes, the Planning and Performance Specialist leads the department’s performance management and monitoring activities, such as continuously refining the department’s performance measurement framework [e.g., selection of key performance indicators (KPIs), data collection, data analysis, reporting], supporting performance management and outcome measurement at the programmatic level, and data-driven decision-making at all levels of the department to inform organizational and strategic decision-making.

**POSITION ACTIVITIES**

**Strategic Planning**
- Monitor progress towards strategic goals, identify potential risks or barriers, and recommend adjustments as needed.
- Supports the development of key evidence-informed processes and tools to support the leadership team in strategic thinking and decision making.
- Guides leadership to monitor targets and deliverables on an ongoing basis to ensure planned deliverables are achieved or to promote course changes, as needed.
- Communicate performance metrics, progress towards goals, and recommendations for improvement to stakeholders in a clear and compelling manner.

**Performance Measurement**
- Design and implement standardized performance metrics and frameworks to monitor the effectiveness and impact of learning initiatives.
- Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned with departmental goals and ensure consistent data collection, analysis, and reporting processes.
- Provide regular reports and analysis to stakeholders, highlighting performance trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for optimization.

**Data Analysis **Reporting**
- Coordinates data collection and quality assurance processes to ensure performance measurement data is being collected and tracked accurately.
- Translate data findings into actionable recommendations for decision-making, resource allocation, and process improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to leverage data-driven insights and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Drafts the Learning Outcome Team’s performance reports and develops / supports other performance reports, that are submitted to other departments within the CMPA.

**Continuous Improvement**
- Supports efforts to enhance organizational effectiveness and efficiency through continuous improvement initiatives.
- Supports program evaluations and needs assessments to assess the impact of learning programs and identify opportunities for enhancement.
- Implement feedback mechanisms and quality assurance processes to ensure ongoing improvement and alignment with industry best practices.

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**
- Minimum 4 year Bachelor Degree preferably in Business Administration or an equivalent field of study
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in strategic planning, performance measurement, or related fields, preferably in a healthcare or education setting.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and develop actionable insights.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences.
- Proven track record of driving results through strategic planning, process improvement, and performance optimization initiatives.
- Experience with project management methodologies and tools preferred.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Advanced skills in data analysis software (e.g., Excel) and familiarity with performance management systems.
