The Manager, Payroll Governance is accountable for the oversight of the accounting of payroll and benefits. In collaboration with the Payroll Manager and Financial Accounting Manager, the role will be focused on establishing processes and controls to ensure the accuracy of the payroll and HR general ledgers.

**What you'll do**
- Accountable for the integrity and accuracy of the payroll and HR general ledgers
- Oversight and approval of month-end and year-end close procedures including reconciliations, journal entries and adjustment of entries
- Develops and document processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Review and signs off on all payroll registers in conjunction with Payroll Manager (dual sign-off)
- Assist in the creation of labor analytics for all parts of the business
- Key role in internal controls over financial reporting as it related to payroll processes
- Analyze & interpret financial results to assist and advise the leadership team
- Participates in the technology transformation project

**What you'll bring**
- Bachelor degree in accounting; CGA/CMA/CPA or equivalent required.
- 7-10 years of experience in senior accounting or financial management, providing full cycle accounting and preparation of financial statements
- 3-5 years of management & leadership experience
- Payroll & benefits accounting experience.
- Tact, diplomacy, and discretion in handling information of confidential and/or sensitive nature
- Proven record of integrity and trust
- High level of customer focus and service orientation
- Demonstrated success as a team player and proven resiliency in moving team forward
- Effectively able to prioritize workload and work under pressure
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Advanced user knowledge in Excel, Word and Outlook
- Previous experience with JD Edward desired
- In-depth knowledge of Canadian Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) and related financial reporting requirements;
- Strong demonstrated knowledge of best practices in accounting, reporting, and financial services;
- Strong demonstrated knowledge in ERP (JDE or equivalent) Business Systems;
- Strong demonstrated knowledge of analytical techniques and financial concepts to define and solve complex problems;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and effective listening skills;
- Proficient in MS-Office (Excel /Word/Outlook/PowerPoint/Visio)
- Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills
