As a part of the Continuing Care Division, the Continuing Care Branch is responsible for the development of provincial policy and legislation for continuing care (home care, supportive living and long-term care). Our division is leading a number of key high-priority initiatives within the Ministry of Health including activities to transform continuing care. Our division works closely with Alberta Health Services, other ministries, clients and families and other health and service delivery stakeholders in planning and implementing continuing care programs and initiatives.

**Role**:
Reporting to the Manager of Community Partnerships, the Community Partnerships and Policy Advisor is responsible for grant management, policy analysis and advice and communication and issues management. This position is required to maintain communication with grant recipients and support reporting and analysis of grant projects. The position supports key functions of the Continuing Care Division. This will include supporting the development of provincial strategic policy for home care, supportive living, and continuing care homes in Alberta. This position is accountable for supporting the development of continuing care related legislation, policies, standards, performance expectations and major priority initiatives, such as government platform commitments, the review of continuing care related legislation and the expansion of home and community care and facility-based continuing care system capacity.

This role requires a depth of research, analysis and policy development skill, combined with project management experience to enable the planning, research, development, implementation and monitoring of provincial policies, legislation, strategies and projects.

The position requires a strong ability to conduct accurate and responsive (i.e., quick) research, as well as be able to critically analyze collected evidence and practice to provide sound recommendations for policy directions and options. You will also assist in researching and identifying potential outcome and performance measures, to embed within the continuing care legislative and policy framework going forward, as well as be able to effectively monitor and reporting on existing measures to assess continuing care quality and performance. The ability to successfully lead or support projects in a timely fashion, maintain positive working relationships, and effectively engage and communicate with a wide variety of stakeholders including the public, integrate continuing care practice and operational perspectives into ongoing work and future planning.

**Qualifications**:
University degree in a related field (Health, Social Sciences, Public Administration), plus 2 years related experience required.

Preferences will be given to those with:

- Experience in the continuing care sector or health or social services for older adults and/or people with disabilities;
- Experience with policy development, program evaluation and/or research related to health or social service projects;
- Experience communicating with a variety of stakeholders, including preparing written materials (briefing notes, reports, memos, letters);
- Awareness of or experience with project management principles;
- Experience with the Action Request Tracking System (ARTS).

The following are considered assets:

- Awareness or working knowledge of: grant management; health legislation and regulation; government goals and decision making processes; and public consultation.

Related experience or education maybe considered as an equivalency one-for-one for one basis of:

- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

**Salary**:
$2,588.06 to $3,397.76 bi-weekly ($67,548 - $88,681 / year)

One full time permanent position. Location to be determined in Alberta, with the possibility of working a hybrid work arrangement.
