**JOB SUMMARY**
- The Office of the Auditor General undertakes independent, objective financial, compliance and performance audits of City departments, local Boards of the City, municipally controlled corporations, grant recipients and any other agencies, boards, commissions and corporations as City Council may create or identify, to add value to the City and improve the City’s programs/services. Audits are professionally conducted to assist Council by bringing a systematic, unbiased approach designed to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance processes. The Office of the Auditor General also administers the Fraud and Waste Hotline and co-ordinates fraud investigation activities with City Programs or City Agencies, Boards and Commissions at the Office’s discretion.

You are responsible for planning and managing the day-to-day delivery and operations of the Fraud and Waste Hotline and carry-out key elements of the OAG’s Quality Assurance Program. In addition, you will lead audit projects and investigations that may require directing and supervising one or more Senior Auditor and/or Auditor on the project.- You complete assignments of moderate size and complexity, including major and complex elements of comprehensive audits, working as project lead, part of a team and/or independently. You develop results and recommendations and provide expert advice to assist clients in the identification and implementation of improvements to strategic/operational planning, business processes, organizational design, change management, performance measurement, quality assurance, risk management, controllership and to related policies and procedures.**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**
- Completion of 4 year university degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field- Minimum of 7 years of internal audit experience, including a minimum of 2 years of experience supervising audit staff and/or contractors. Other relevant experience includes: program evaluation, performance measurement monitoring, business process design or re-engineering, and/or external audit.**CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES**
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) with CPA Ontario or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) with IIA Canada or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) with the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE)**KNOWLEDGE**
- Comprehensive auditing

- Financial and other related business practices
- Contract document preparation, the tendering process and supervision of field services
- Working knowledge of corporate human resource policies, practices and collective agreements related to managing in a unionized environment, including hiring, dismissal, performance management and the grievance procedure
- Methods used to deal with the media in a professional manner
- Computer literacy in the City’s office technology environment
- Fraud detection and prevention techniques
- Must be familiar with applicable health and safety legislation, have knowledge of any potential or actual danger to health or safety in the work place, and have knowledge of appropriate actions to be taken in order to ensure the health and safety of staff in accordance with applicable legislation and City policies and procedures
