**SUMMARY OF THE POSITION**

We are looking for a skilled Accounting Clerk to perform a variety of accounting, bookkeeping and financial tasks as well as support office administrative tasks, ensuring the rest of the staff has adequate support to work efficiently.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**

The Accounting Clerk’s duties include the following:

- Code, process, and post accounts payable.
- Maintain financial and project accounts (including verification and posting of project invoices, subcontractor and consultant invoices, and field reports).
- Verify and code employee expense claims for non-project expenses.
- Allocate telephone, postage, photocopy and printing charges to projects.
- Maintain the office petty cash.
- Prepare cheques and wire transfers.
- Liaise with bank, as required regarding wire transfers, daily transactions, and foreign currency transactions.
- Deposit cheques.
- Prepare regular government remittances (e.g. payroll withholdings, EHT, HST).
- Maintain the accounting files.
- Assist with foreign exchange transactions.
- Track daily bank account activity online and update records.
- Tag fixed assets.
- Assist with project financial administration
- Provide administrative support to the finance department.
- Assist with special accounting analysis.
- Perform other duties as may be required from time to time.

Responsible for office administration including:

- Manage couriers/mail
- Order office supplies and stationery
- Liaison with landlord and other suppliers of building services including security, cleaning, contractors, repairs etc
- Purchase, maintenance, and service agreements on all equipment including photocopiers and coffee machines.
- Negotiating arrangements with suppliers of services and materials to the office;
- Supervising the Purchase Order system for administrative (i.e. non-project) equipment procurement, office supplies, and kitchen supplies; and
- Support the social committee to plan office events

**KEY SUCCESS FACTORS**

The following is a list of factors against which performance will be rated and which are considered key to the position:

- Accuracy (precise, thorough, complete, attention to detail)
- Volume of work (quantity, speed)
- Timeliness (meet deadlines, generally handle duties in an efficient and timely manner)
- Helpfulness / positive attitude
- Other factors such as promptness, organizational skills, etc.

**JOB REQUIREMENTS**

**Education**:

- Undergraduate university degree in accounting or related field or college equivalent degree

Minimum Experience:

- Relevant accounting training and experience
- Good computer skills, especially Excel. Knowledge of Deltek Vision accounting software an asset.
- Strong organizational skills

Language Proficiency:

- English

Employment Conditions:

- This is a full-time permanent position
- Must be eligible to work in Canada
- Ottawa, Canada/Hybrid
