Compensation: Level 3 of 5: $29.00 to $40.00 per hour commensurate with experience, plus:

**About the Organization**:
Habitat Acquisition Trust (HAT) is local land trust working with our community to conserve and steward habitats across the region. HAT operates in the traditional and unceded territories of the lək̓ʷəŋən, W̱SÁNEĆ, SC’IȺNEW, and T’Sou-ke Nations, and we recognize that our work is intrinsically linked to Indigenous stewardship of these territories, both past and ongoing. Our mission is to conserve natural spaces on southern Vancouver Island and the southern Gulf Islands through legal protection of private land, land back to First Nations, restoration, education, and stewardship programs. HAT focuses on building partnerships to accomplish our mission. We work closely and collaboratively with community organizations, government, individual landowners, and Indigenous communities to achieve effective conservation outcomes.
**Program Area Overview**:
HAT’s Fundraising and Communications Program area promotes and nurtures the growth of sustained community engagement through advocacy, raised awareness, and funds for the permanent protection of natural environments and ecosystems, particularly under Indigenous leadership and guidance in the territories, that now make up the Capital Regional District.

**Position Summary**:
The Development and Communications Manager reports directly to the Executive Director and works closely with HAT’s other staff, contractors, partners and funders to encourage donations and funding for HAT’s programs and projects. The DCM’s role is to lead the development, implementation and coordination of fundraising and communications strategies focused on grant proposals, donor development and membership drives that serve to promote HAT’s stewardship mission. The DCM also leads the creation and production of communications materials related to membership and soliciting donations consistent with HAT’s mission, vision, and values. The position is responsible for membership cultivation and member relations, major gifts, as well as leading the creation and implementation of HAT’s overall development strategy. The DCM also leads campaigns for capital and (land) acquisitions through public outreach, donation support and administration, and other opportunities as they become available. The position also maintains HAT’s donor database/customer relationship management.
