**ASSOCIATE CHAIR, BUSINESS (STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES)**

NorQuesters are difference makers and we’re searching for someone dedicated to making a difference to join the Business Program team as an Associate Chair, Business (Student Support Services).

We seek an individual who is passionate about learners, appreciative of their academic journey, and able to see issues and concerns as an opportunity for growth and development. Committed to fairness and equity, the incumbent will serve the Business program and work with other student support offices to address instructor and student academic questions, complaints, and critical concerns to seek resolution. They will provide guidance to the Business student support team as they provide advice and information to learners. They will complement Business leadership team by working closely together to meet administrative and operational needs to ensure a strong and positive student service culture.

This is a full time term position from **March 2024 to April 2026.**

**HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE**
- Provide formal and informal support to instructors and students who are concerned about an academic or non-academic misconduct issue.
- Assist learners in obtaining and providing relevant information regarding college policies and procedures.
- Facilitate deferred exam requests and grade appeals.
- Work closely with others in Student Services, Centre for Growth and Harmony, OSJA, and International Students to provide a comprehensive approach to student support.
- Serve as a college resource for administrators in formulating or modifying policy and procedures, raising issues that might surface due to a gap between the stated goals of the college and actual practice.
- Design and conduct workshops for learners and instructors in academic, non-academic and related misconduct and related topics.
- Represents the Business program on relevant college-wide and program level committees and task forces, to ensure student success is at the core of all college initiatives.
- Manage Business student support team to develop a cohesive and integrated team focused on high-quality support and services to ensure a seamless student transition and success.

**WHAT YOU BRING**
- A relevant undergraduate / graduate degree is an asset or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in judicial affairs or dispute resolution training.
- A minimum of 3 years’ of recent related experience working in a quasi-judicial environment including major case management experience will be an asset.
- Experience working with students of diverse backgrounds and cultures is necessary; understanding NorQuest learners is an asset.
- Experience working as a part of an interdisciplinary team to support students.
- Be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the rules of procedural fairness and the laws of natural justice.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including investigative skills are necessary.
- Demonstrated commitment to providing outstanding student support service.
- Experience in Mental Health First Aid and working with students in crisis.
- You have demonstrated a commitment to continued personal growth in relation to equity, anti-racism, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of the post-secondary context.
- You are a confidential person with a reputation for integrity and for dealing fairly, effectively and in a timely fashion.
- Must be knowledgeable about post-secondary culture, policies, and practices, have excellent networking skills, understand, and participate in collaboration with others, and be able to establish and maintain broad contacts throughout the college.
- Must be sensitive to dealing with individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures.
- Maintain a professional demeanor, should have strong presentation skills, and should be able to organize and communicate information to groups of varying size and hierarchical levels in the college.
