**NOTE: This competition is limited to current salaried NASA staff within the Community Health Department.**

This is a leadership/supervisory assignment reporting to the Chair of the Advanced Care and Primary Care Paramedic Programs. This position works in close collaboration with the Department Head of Community Health. The Associate Chair will assist the Chair with ensuring quality curriculum, instructor training/development, program promotions, work-integrated learning (WIL), and promoting the health and the well-being of staff and students. Relationship building will be a large component of the assignment; therefore, being respectful, open-minded and supportive will also be key.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Mentors, motivates, coaches and provides guidance to instructors to ensure instructor excellence within the Program.
- Participates in the recruitment, selection and orientation of instructors dedicated to NAIT’s visions, promises and values.
- Recommends staff development opportunities for the instructional staff in collaboration with the Chair and Department Head.
- Provides instruction to students and fulfills instructional responsibilities.
- Supports the program with planning, scheduling, workload and substitution.
- Implements best practices related to curriculum management to ensure courses and programs offered are relevant and of the highest quality.
- Supports Program CRR and accreditation activities to ensure the Program is compliant with provincial/national accreditation standards and leads the Program in striving for continual quality improvement
- Participates in activities that relate to student recruitment, academic advising, mentorship, retention and program promotion.
- Engages in discussions for fair and equitable program instructor workloads and schedules in addition to assigning substitutions based on instructional expertise
- Engages with industry, external stakeholders as well as other post-secondary institutions for the purpose of securing and supporting work-integrated learning partners and ensuring relevancy of Program related content and equipment.
- Encourages and promotes scholarly activities at the Program instructional level

**Qualifications**:

- Related diploma or degree.
- Active practice permit with the Alberta College of Paramedics.
- Previous leadership/supervisory experience is considered an asset.
- Equivalencies will be considered.

**Remuneration**:As outlined in the NASA Collective Agreement. Classification - NASA Instructor Senior (Associate Chair)
- This position is covered by the NASA (NAIT Academic Staff Association) Collective Agreement._
