As the Manager of External Communications, you will lead a team of media, external relations and social media specialists in a newsroom-style environment, following leads that showcase to our students, employees, supporters and media all that Seneca has to offer. You will also play an important role in issues management, taking a proactive planning approach.

- Prioritizing the work of a team and demonstrating strong, empathetic leadership while you do it.
- Meeting with internal stakeholders, including senior leadership, to advise on communications best practices and wowing them with your creative ideas that consider their unique goals as well as other institutional priorities.
- Developing and implementing omni-channel communication strategies, plans and campaigns that align with our strategic plan and values and help spread the amazing #SenecaProud stories of our students and graduates.
- Writing and editing various types of content - articles, press releases, social media posts, scripts, briefing documents and any other format you believe will support Seneca’s external relations and bring your topic to life.
- Creating clear, concise key messaging for every project you take on.

The person we’re looking for is creative, curious, purpose-driven, and a sponge for ideas. You know how to navigate complex environments, designing strategic and holistic content strategies for diverse audiences and on multiple channels - the kind of work that impresses clients and delivers results. Attention to detail is your strong suit and you’re good at helping people create their best work.

In addition, we have the following qualifications in mind:

- You have 5+ years of experience in communications or journalism, including people leadership experience.
- You have a diploma or degree in journalism, public relations, or communications.
