Cecil Community Centre is a not-for-profit, multi-service neighbourhood centre that offers a broad range of recreational, educational, social, cultural and capacity-building programs to local area residents. For over 40 years, the Centre has played a vital role in the lives of community members of all ages. Our centre provides programs and services for children, youth, adults and seniors. Programs include a Family Resource Program, Community Drop-in, After School Program Summer Camp, Youth Program, and English as a Second Language (ESL).

The Centre partners with a variety of community organizations to provide services to the community, (e.g. seniors’ health and fitness classes, English language instruction for newcomers, and tax clinics for people who are low-income). The Centre is an accessible, multi-functional facility that provides program and activity spaces to the community at large.

The Children’s Program Assistant will report to the Program Manager. The Children's Program Assistant will be responsible for ensuring safety and wellbeing of participants in the After School Program and other CecilKids programs. The Children’s Program Assistant provides care for children during the Safe Walk as well as planning and implementing educational and recreational programs to facilitate engagement, learning, and achieve developmental goals of children. We are seeking Casual Children's Program Assistant staff to provide vacation and sick relief for permanent staff.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Design, develop, and implement a wide variety of activities that reflect children’s interests
- Ensure children have a fun after-school and program experience
- Be a positive role model
- Prepare appropriate environments by ensuring safe, clean, sanitary areas
- Participate in Safe Walk for children to arrive at programming

**Qualifications**:

- Experience working with children
- After School Program/Children's programming facilitation experience
- Clear vulnerable sector police record check is required

**Hours and Wages**:availability Monday to Friday, 2:30PM to 6:00PM** with additional hours as required. Starting at **$19.72/hour**. This is a casual position, but in accordance with our collective agreement, members of CUPE 2998 will be considered first.
