**_ Program Overview - Child Care & Family Services_**
- WoodGreen serves over 700 children through seven licensed child care centres in Toronto’s east end and at Pape House. Our curriculum is based on the most up-to-date practices and is designed to respond to each child's individual needs and interests. In addition to our year-round programs, we also offer a summer camp program. Committed to continual learning and excellence, we work with a variety of partners to deliver our many services for children and families._

What You Will Do_**
- _
Engage in consultations with participating children and parents to determine the nature of After-School programming._
- _ Plan and deliver After-School program activities which facilitate skills development, leadership and high self-esteem for children in this age group, in response to participant input and goals. _
- _Plan and supervise off site trips with groups of children, responsible for the safety of participants during these trips. _
- _Develop and deliver community action activities for children in the After-School program. _
- _Keep accurate attendance records, maintain clear communication with parents in respect to their child(ren)’s attendance._
- _ Responsible for the supervision of children during scheduled extended hours before and/or after program times._
- _ Document the process of program development, planning, implementation, and evaluation._
- _ Responsible for organizing and facilitating parent information._
- _ Set and work toward personal skill development goals._
- _ Participate in team development activities and program evaluation._
- _ Participate in regular feedback sessions with other After-School program workers, and supervisory session with the Manager._
- _ Ensure the anti-racism objectives and community principles of the organization are achieved within the program. _
- _Work in accordance with all relevant legislation, by-laws and WoodGreen organizational policies._

What You Bring to the Team_**
- _
Completed or enrolled in post-secondary education program. _
- _First Aid Certification (First Aid/CPR-C)._
- _ 1+ year of experience planning and implementing activities for school aged children._

Demonstrated ability to direct, instruct, and care for school age children aged 6-12._
- _ Ability to handle emergencies._
- _ Ability to work cooperatively with others._
- _ Ability to use professional judgement on a daily basis within established guidelines._
- _ Ability to accommodate competing demands._
- _ Ability to maintain neat and accurate records._
- _ Ability to maintain confidentiality of all information related to children, parents, staff._
- _ Knowledge of child development and learning needs of children aged 6-12. _
- _Ability to work with children and parents who have experienced violence or homelessness, and some understanding of this population’s unique issues._
- _ Understanding of community development and child centered approaches._
- _ Excellent communication and problem-solving skills._
- _ Understanding of community development and child-centered approaches._
- _ Interests in music, arts or sports an asset._
- _ Familiarity with WoodGreen programs an asset._
- _ Experience working with children with emotional or social challenges an asset._
