Quality Manager in Projects

**A Snapshot of Your Day**
The duty of the QMiP is to act and operatively support the Project Manager/ Director as expert and partner by planning, supervision, ensuring and reporting of appropriate activities regarding failure prevention, effective proceedings (pro-active & re-active) and continuous improvement over the entire life cycle of the project. The QMiP is also responsible for managing and/or supervising the quality resource on the project site(s).
It is also important that the QMiP has the expressed authority to intervene at any stage in the project if proceedings could have a negative impact on the project.
The QMiP reports directly to Project Manager/ Director and acts as member of the core project team. On functional matters the reporting line is additionally to the execution unit or business area Quality Manager of the project related business.
**How You’ll Make an Impact**
- The main objective of Quality Management in Projects is to fulfill customer requirements, to prevent non-conformance costs and thereby obtain the appropriate level of customer satisfaction
- With the objective of an effective progressing over all steps of the project, develop and implement an appropriately structured Quality program aligned with ISO 10005 / 10006 standards
- Manage quality assurance resources on the project
- Monitor quality inspection resources on site or at equipment suppliers
- Manage the Customer counterpart with regards to quality to ensure issues are optimally closed to their satisfaction
- Manage all external interfaces with regards to quality matters, e.g. authorities having jurisdiction
- Ensure reporting of appropriate activities regarding the Quality management of the project
- Assist the project Work package managers in failure prevention, reporting and follow-up on non-conformances or other quality issues, as they arise through closure
- Have an oversight on quality supplier selection and ongoing supplier surveillance/ performance monitoring
- Carry out effective planning and management of day-to-day tasks across the team such as: auditing, inspections, lessons learned, continuous improvement activities and support with root cause analysis and corrective actions during the project lifecycle
- Identification of qualification shortcomings and training of project employees regarding quality.
**What You Bring**
- Very good written and verbal communication skills in French and English
- Engineering education (B.Sc/ M.Sc Engineering degree or equivalent)
- Professional Engineer License in the province of Quebec is an asset.
- 6 years professional experience in quality assurance of medium or large size multi-disciplinary Engineering Procurement & Construction (EPC) projects
- 3 years professional experience as quality assurance manager at medium or large size multi-disciplinary turn-key projects
- Formal training in Management Systems and solid understanding of quality methodologies and tools
- ISO9001:2015 certified Internal Auditor
- Project management certification is an advantage
- Good negotiation, communication, team management and conflict resolution skills
- Willingness to travel domestically (15%)
- Experience with risk/ contract/ change and claim management is an advantage
- Ability to balance multiple projects and prioritize tasks
- Strong problem-solving skills and an analytical approach.

Independent of the established QMS, the quality team is securing consistency with the applicable governance local and global requirements, at both Corporate and Execution unit level.
Quality Management includes all activities of Quality Planning, Quality Controlling, Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement in the project, related to all team members and other involved employees of the organization. It is not limited to the tasks of the role of the responsible QMiP.
