**GHD's Dams Group is seeking a Technical Director, Dams & Hydropower.**

**Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in**:

- Provide technical leadership in dams and hydro design projects
- Maintaining key client relationships
- Delivering successful project outcomes
- Securing project opportunities for the team
- Building GHD’s profile in dams and hydro-power

Actively participate in client relationship management, business development, development of proposals, reports and technical analysis. Show leadership in achieving on time and on budget project completion as well as mentoring and developing other team members.

**Experience required**:

- A minimum of 20 years’ experience in large dam engineering with the majority of this time working as a consultant
- Established industry profile through participation in professional associations
- The technical experience and skills specific for this position include:

- Demonstrated skills and understanding of dam design for large dam and hydropower structures
- Detailed knowledge of design of a broad range of dam types, including embankment and concrete dams
- Working knowledge of the broad field of dams engineering, including all elements of design (spillway design, dam design, design of outlets and intake towers, hydropower facilities), dam safety and risk assessments and construction phase experience.
- Experience working in multi-disciplined teams, including geologists, structural engineers, hydraulic engineers, hydro-mechanical and electro-mechanical engineers.
- Established project and time management skills, including preparation of budgets, work programs, proposals, tenders, technical submissions and reports.
- Established project team management skills in a multidisciplinary consulting environment
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships
- Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently, strong written and verbal communication skills in English along with an ability to work well with a variety of clients.
- Ability to grow a team and provide mentoring of junior staff.
- A commitment to maintaining a healthy and safe workplace
- Strong knowledge of relevant Canadian and USA standards, industry guidelines and current industry practices

**What we expect of you**:

- Provision of authoritative technical leadership for design, documentation and reports for new dams, upgrading of existing dams and hydropower projects.
- A willingness to travel both nationally and internationally as required for projects,
- Well regarded dams and hydropower design advice during client tendering and evaluation of tenders and where required design advice and quality control during construction
- Completion of tasks for multiple projects within budget, to committed programs to support the timely completion of projects
- Contribution to the preparation of successful proposals to clients
- Ongoing compliance with GHD’s Quality, Environmental Management and Occupational Health Safety & Rehabilitation Systems
- Clear, concise reports and presentations for clients
- Strive for industry recognition as leader in the field of dams and hydropower engineering
- Active development of GHD’s dams and hydropower business
- Build effective relationships within GHD including with Business Group Managers, Client Relationship Managers, Market Leaders, Service Line Leaders and other key people

**Qualifications**:

- Professional Engineering Designation
- Post graduate qualifications will be favourably regarded
