**About the job**

Reporting to the Director of Strategic Initiatives, the Manager, Communications is responsible for the development and execution of communications and public relations strategies to increase awareness of NNAS and the services it provides to current and prospective applicants, nursing regulatory bodies, governments, and other stakeholders. This is a new and only Communications role that exists at this time. To be successful in this role, individuals must be tenacious, result-driven, self-driven and organized.

**What you will do**
- Manage the development and execution of a communications strategy to increase awareness and engagement of NNAS.
- Research, recommend and implement measures to strengthen NNAS’s branding.
- Provide leadership and consultation in all aspects of communications to advance organizational strategic priorities while enhancing relationships with key stakeholders.
- Manage the coordination and writing of applicant-facing materials, tools, and resources.
- Manage relationships with external vendors and/or consultants involved in developing communications and marketing materials.
- Engage key audiences by creating dynamic content for various NNAS communication platforms.
- Manage media requests, lead the development of news releases and briefing notes, and maintain regular media monitoring. Build relationships and contacts with relevant print, broadcasting, and online journalists.
- Oversee the day-to-day administration and execution of special communications projects and activities, keeping track of all project milestones, timelines, and communications/marketing requirements.
- Lead and/or support live and online events such as speaking engagements, conferences, webinars, career fairs, etc.
- Prepare annual communications budget for Director approval; monitor communications budget on a regular basis.
- Contribute to organizational operational planning to identify, plan and implement communication initiatives and strategies to support the organization’s strategic goals.
- Develop and report on key performance indicators for communication activities and the effectiveness of strategies.
- Proactively identify emerging communication/digital trends, provide advice, and recommend plans for integration and implementation.
- Support and work collaboratively with other NNAS departments as needed.

**What you need to succeed**

**Education & Certification**
- Post Secondary degree in Communications and/or Marketing, or in a relevant field.

**Specialized Knowledge & Experience**
- A minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience in communications, marketing and media is required.
- Strong skills in project management to ensure overall delivery of marketing/communications initiatives from start to finish.
- Proficient in computer skills and communication platforms (MS Office, digital publishing tools, social media, Survey Monkey, Wordpress, Mailchimp).
- Experience with creating compelling visual content/images and written content for diverse audiences.
- Experience in preparing communications for a wide variety of audiences, including individuals for whom English or French is an additional language.
- Strong understanding of the Canadian media environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of newcomers’ journey; experience with Internationally Educated Health Professionals is an asset.
- Bilingualism in speaking, reading, and writing in both English and French is highly desired.
- Comfortable working independently to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.
