Together with the Medical and Midwifery Co-leads, and as a prominent leader in clinical care, education, innovation and research, the Clinical Program Director (Director) provides leadership and strategic guidance to advance the Women's Health, Newborn and Pediatric Program, and leads the Corporate Command Centre and Patient Flow. Within a collaborative leadership model, and in alignment with the mission, values and strategic directions of the organization, the Director sets the vision and operational plan for Women's Health, Newborn Care, and Pediatrics, including volumes, fiscal resources and capital planning and enables our teams to continue to consistently provide innovative, high-quality patient care programs and services.
Reporting to the Executive Vice-President, Clinical Operations and Chief Nursing Executive, the Clinical Program Director of Women's Health, Newborn and Pediatric Care is accountable for the effective and efficient operations for the Women's Health, Newborn, and Pediatric Care programs at the Charlton Site. The Newborn Care program includes 11 Birthing Suites, 2 Birthing ORs, Mother Baby Combined Care Unit, Level 2 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), ambulatory care including Breastfeeding and Newborn Assessment (BANA) Clinic, Baby Assessment Clinic (BAC), the Early Pregnancy Assessment Clinic (EPAC), Pediatric Clinic, Obstetrical and Gynecology Clinic, and Baby Friendly Initiative (BFI). The program supports over 3000 deliveries per year, with the Level 2B NICU seeing approximately 500 admissions annually. The Women’s Health portion of the portfolio includes ambulatory gynecology, colposcopy, reproductive mental health, comprehensive menopause care, general gynecologic surgery and expertise in complex mínimally invasive gynecologic surgery (MIGS). The Obstetric and Gynecology clinic sees approximately 30,000 visits annually.
The Director establishes partnerships and collaborates with community and regional providers, provincial agencies, funders and other external key stakeholders (Cancer Care Ontario (CCO), Provincial Council for Maternal and Child Health (PCMCH), Critical Care Services Ontario (CCSO), Southern Ontario Maternal Child Youth Network (SOMCHYN), Better Outcomes Registry and Network (BORN), etc.).
For the Operational Command Centre, the Director is the key operational lead related to corporate clinical staff planning and corporate strategy to support patient flow. The Director oversees the Sr. Manager Operational Command Centre in working closely with Human Resources related to staffing and recruitment initiatives and providing leadership to the Operational Command Centre. The Command Centre is designed to coordinate and operationalize centralized bed allocation, staffing support (Nursing Resource Team, centralized staffing), Site Administration through the Corporate Operations Supervisors and Patient Flow. The Command Centre is to provide an enhanced patient experience by reducing time to inpatient bed time, including escalation and resolution of issues as they arise and providing response to the issue in a standardized manner. The Director is responsible for fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment that is healthy, diverse, equitable and focused on continuous learning and improvement.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Regulated health professional with license in good standing
- Undergraduate Degree
- Master’s Degree in Health Administration, Health Discipline or related field
- 5-7 years Practical and related experience with demonstrated competence in health management
- Certification CNeoN(c), LEAN preferred
- RNAO Professional Membership preferred
- Progressive management experience in an academic hospital setting, strong interpersonal, communication and clinical problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated competence in health management
- Experience in leading a diverse group of professional staff with both common and competing needs
- Proven ability to communicate highly complex information both orally and in writing to a range of audiences, including the general public
- High level planning, organizational and networking skills
