Island Montessori recruiting for a Childcare Manager to provide oversight of the preschool programming and operations. We are a non-profit preschool/daycare that has been serving Victoria children ages 30 months to 5 years and their families for over 40 years. We offer an inclusive Montessori-based approach to early childhood education, and are committed to early intervention practices that support children with a wide variety of learning strengths and needs in an inclusive, integrated setting. We are located on the Saanich Peninsula, and offer a beautiful rural setting. We are surrounded by nature, which provides many opportunities for outdoor exploration and enjoyment. With a current licensed capacity of 39 children and eleven staff members, you would have unlimited opportunities to enhance and enjoy an already dynamic program that offers 2, 3 and 5 full day programs as well as a morning preschool and Before and After School Care.

This position will offer training, an attractive entry salary and Extended Health Benefits after a three-month probation period you will receive paid vacation for Christmas break, Spring break and summer vacation.

The Childcare Manager is responsible for the day-to-day and operation of the school. Reporting to the Executive Director, your duties will include, but are not limited to:

- Staff scheduling, ensuring appropriate ratios are kept at all times;
- Motivates and leads staff through personal example regarding client relations, site cleanliness program development, classroom leadership, health and safety practices, uniform standards, staff relations, and compliance with IMHS vision of care.
- Work closely with the Childcare Director to support the overall vision and direction of IMHS
- Report all accidents, injuries and illnesses to childcare Director and licensing as required
- Maintain program waitlist, enrollment, distribute registration packages, and ensure orientation of new families to the program, the facility and staff
- In consultation with parents and according to CCLR standards: develop, review, and record compliance with care plans where applicable
- Model and oversee inclusive practice and acceptance of diversity are integrated into education programs.
- Builds relationships with families and recognizes children/families who potentially need additional support, initiating referrals for families and supporting them in the navigation process.
- Review program plans, observe program activities and documentation
- Fostering positive working relationships with staff, parents and children through open, clear and timely communications;
- Acting as a floating teacher, ready to step in to cover short-term absences;
- Administrative support as required.
- Coordinate the collection of relevant statistical data and prepare reports of aggregated month end centre/program statistics and submit to the Childcare Director.
- A working understanding of the BC Child Care Licensing Regulation required
- A sound knowledge of budgeting and spending, including government subsidies

**Job Qualifications/Educational**

Early Childhood Education Certificate (ECE; valid in B.C.) is required**; **Montessori training preferred. ECE-A with management and/or Montessori experience may be considered.

Min. two years of classroom experience in a lead teacher capacity.

Experience in a Managerial position preferred;
Experience with Administrative work strongly preferred;
Proficiency in MS Excel and Google workspace.

- A strong background in current developmentally appropriate practices as they associate to young children;
