Job Summary
The Professional Resource - Financial Analyst position is responsible and accountable for accurately and timely performing duties required providing operational support to Financial Services and the Hospital in the areas of Budget/Planning, Variance Analysis, MIS Guidelines, Accounting Standards, and internal/external reporting and account reconciliation.
Skills & Abilities
- Three to four years related experience
- Recent experience within the last five years
- Advanced proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Strong planning and analytical skills
- Previous healthcare experience an asset

**Qualifications**:

- A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Health Management or related field
- Provincial certification in a Recognized Accounting Program - CPA or Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or Health Management

Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly and yearly financial/statistical reports for internal and external reporting
- Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year-end journal entries
- Account reconciliations
- Participate in the year end audit, includes working paper file preparation for the Liabilities and P&L sections, preparing lead sheets, answering auditors’ queries
- Variance analysis, business cases preparation and evaluation, forecasting and trend analysis
- Analyze and interpret complex financial data supported by statistics
- Provide meaningful financial analysis and advice in support of business planning and decision making
- Assist Department’s Manager/Director with preparation of their annual operating budget
- FTE’s costing
- Provide financial interpretation and validation of data
- Review and analysis of Benchmarking reports
- Provide education/training on Financial processes
- Participate in the completion of the Hospital Annual Planning Submission (HAPS)
- Participate in Internal budget process
