Position Summary

The Fleet Manager will report directly to the North American Logistics Manager. The Fleet Manager is responsible for the Maintenance of all commercial mobile equipment, and off highway mobile equipment, replacement of equipment, registering and licensing of all equipment. This position will be based out of our Corporate Office in Amherst and will require travel in Canada and the USA.

Key Responsibilities
- Oversees the end-to-end lifecycle of each company-owned commercial vehicle.
- Administer the processing and maintenance of vehicle licenses and registration, including insurance.
- When a vehicle is no longer capable of serving its intended purpose, the fleet manager determines whether to rent, sell, reassign, repurpose, or retire a vehicle.
- Develops policies and procedures for performance monitoring, record keeping, and improvement.
- Works closely with our automobile fleet providers.
- Source third party software to aid in tracking of maintenance history of our fleet inventory.
- Sources third party maintenance providers in Canada and the USA.
- Works closely with the Opta (USA) Inc., internal Maintenance shop.
- Works with the Director of Safety to develop and maintain handling of dangerous goods procedures.
- Reports to the North American Logistics Manager on budgets, major purchases, lease vs. purchase analysis, cost of fleet, planning and fleet level management.
- Determine and enforce safety protocols.
- Develops programs with part suppliers where applicable.
- Some travel is required to our facilities in New York, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario.
- Other related job duties as assigned.

Skills and Experience
- College diploma or University Degree in Business Administration, Transportation or Engineering.
- 3-5 years job experience in Mobile equipment Maintenance or Fleet service.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Proven collaboration skills.
- In-depth knowledge of transportation safety laws, guidelines, and regulations.
