The Analyst, Patient Safety Review Office, is responsible for coordinating the intake, triage and processes surrounding patient safety event reviews. The Analyst triages patient safety events within the agency and provides related summary of facts to the management team. The Analyst reviews concerns of patient safety, and other hazard events, near misses and good catches. The Analyst coordinates, liaises, and provides review processes support to managers. The role also promotes a culture of quality and patient safety across the Health Authority, performing functions under a patient centric lens, specifically those arising from patient safety event reviews under their leadership.

**What you’ll do**
- Conducts thorough, objective and timely analysis of events. Documents a summary of facts and collaborates with lead investigators and managers to determine system failures related to safety events. Participates in the development of recommendations to drive program-specific change.
- Performs specialized administrative tasks, including information gathering, document preparation, investigation, research, information review, and the simultaneous coordination of various processes in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Ensures the accuracy the information gathered for the purposes of review for quality assurance or quality improvement.
- Administers, prepares, processes and composes documents, data reports and summary reports for the purposes of review as well as interprets and critically assess situations involving patient safety. Compiles data for tracking/trending to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Provides information orally or in writing to staff, Unit Chiefs, Managers, partner agencies, other levels of government etc. in accordance with appropriate policies and legislation.
- Coordinates meetings and schedules related to event reviews. Attend meetings and act as the division and/or unit representative.
- Inputs, updates and maintains data in the Patient Safety and Learning System.
- Prepares presentation materials, forms etc. Utilize layout, formatting and keyboarding skills using computer.
- Adheres to strict patient and staff privacy and confidentiality, and maintains a neutral patient-centered perspective.
- Actively participates in other regional educational and culture change activities within the Quality, Safety, Risk Management & Accreditation portfolio.

**Qualifications**:

- A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to Bachelor’s Degree, and with a minimum of five years’ experience conducting reviews; preferably in a healthcare setting. Has the ability to assimilate complex information to reach logical conclusions. Ability to relate the outcome of analysis into recommendations for change within the organization.
- Demonstrated critical thinking, analytical skills encompassing an organization-wide perspective. Proven ability to work collaboratively across teams and in a matrix organization to achieve common goals. Exceptional written and oral communication, interpersonal, innovative leadership and systems improvement skills.
