**Community Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator**

**Position Summary**:
This position will report directly to the Minister and be supported by the Ministry and Personnel (M&P) Committee. Work priorities are set in close collaboration with the Minister and Chair of Council who may also provide direction, as required.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**1. Community Outreach**:

- Develops relationships and establishes partnerships with local organizations to maximize resources and expand our outreach efforts. Regularly communicate with partners to stay informed about upcoming events or initiatives that align with our outreach goals.
- Work closely with the Lead Minister and Outreach Committee to develop a plan outlining outreach activities and events.
- Plan and coordinate outreach events working closely with Woodcliff’s faith community, surrounding neighborhoods, and agencies.
- Utilizing Woodcliff’s Social Media and online platforms to promote events, share valuable content, and engage with the community digitally.
- Organize, monitor and evaluate events that help promote community engagement. Strive to connect Woodcliff with the wider community.
- Evaluate the impact of organized outreach activities and events and make recommendations for improvement.
- Is able to demonstrate an understanding of the mission, vision, values and beliefs of Woodcliff United Church and can demonstrate those values to others by consistently acting in a manner congruent with them.
- Ensure all activities adhere to the United Church's Duty of Care policy to protect individuals receiving services and those who deliver them.

**2. Volunteer Coordination**:

- Assessing volunteer needs within Woodcliff and identifying desired skills, availability, and commitment level required to effectively carry out the tasks involved.
- Recruit, train, and manage volunteers for various church programs and events.
- Develop and implement volunteer training programs and orientation sessions.
- Ensure that volunteers are matched with suitable roles based on their skills and interests.

**3. Administrative Duties**:

- Maintain accurate records of outreach activities and events.
- Track volunteer hours, provide feedback and recognize their contributions.
- Implement and document screening procedures (police checks) for volunteers
- Prepare reports for church leadership on community engagement and volunteer participation.
- Manage the outreach and volunteer budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Provide a safe and welcoming environment for all participants, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.

**Competencies**:

- Must have or working towards a Bachelor’s degree in the area of social services or related program of study.
- Training/experience in communication and how to provide leadership and support for volunteers.
- Previous experience in community outreach, volunteer coordination, or a related field.
- Proven ability to work independently with mínimal direction as part of a closely knit team.
- Self-motivated learner, adept at resourcing training materials, videos, etc. to learn new technologies and processes.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Collaborative problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to multi-task and organize within a dynamic and busy work environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively work with members of the faith community as well as individuals and agencies from the surrounding communities.
- Knowledge on researching and analyzing grant opportunities, developing funding strategies, and preparing proposals are an asset.
- Can be trusted and relied upon for discretion when dealing with matters pertaining to privacy and confidentiality of information.
- Proficient with MS Office products, Zoom, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, MailChimp, Google Suite, Outlook

**Special Requirements**:

- Satisfactory criminal reference check (including vulnerable sector) completed within last 3 months.
- Valid Alberta driver’s license and use of car.

**Job Type**: Part-Time Hourly

**Wage**: $22.00-26.00 per hour

**Schedule**:

- The position entails 40 hours per month, September through June, which may be self-directed, flexible and may include evenings and weekends.
- 4 in-person hours are expected Sundays between 9am and noon.
- One 4-hour outreach events per month.
- 30 hours per month July and August with no mandatory Sundays or outreach events.

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $22.00-$26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 4 - 10 per week
