**OVERVIEW**: Reporting to the Lead Employment Coordinator, the Tenant Leader & Support position is a youth led position to provide leadership, support, and mentorship to tenants in the Memengwaa program transitional housing. This position is dedicated to an Indigenous youth, aged 29 or younger, with priority to youth from the Southeast First Nations.
- **KEY RESPONSIBILITES**:

- Coordinate a tenant committee for tenants in Memengwaa transitional housing to gather and share ideas, concerns, or recommendations for the program.
- Supported by Memengwaa team members, facilitate monthly tenant committee meetings.
- Alongside the Tenant Services Coordinator, conduct building tours and orientations for incoming tenants.
- In collaboration with Admin staff and the Tenant Services Coordinator, update placement tracking when tenants move in or out.
- Help tenants learn how to set up services such as cable or internet for their own apartments.
- Accept complaints or recommendations from tenants and bring these forth to the appropriate staff.
- Act as the point of contact for maintenance related concerns; collaborate with Building Caretaker and Tenant Services Coordinator to ensure paperwork is completed and maintenance concerns are addressed.
- Mentor tenants to learn how to maintain an apartment.
- Organize activities for tenants such as volunteering, community engagement, or on-site recreation such as movie nights, craft nights, etc.
- Create and share posters with tenants about upcoming events, committee recruitment, etc.
- Supported by team members, create and share surveys with tenants and facilitate brainstorming sessions related to program needs and activities.
- Working with the Admin staff, plan, purchase, and provide basic needs or emergency resources for tenants.
- Working alongside the Tenant Services Coordinator, monitor and promote building health and safety

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Lived experience with the CFS system a definite asset.
- Lived experience with Employment & Income Assistance an asset.
- Demonstrate knowledge and/or understanding of Indigenous perspectives, First Nations culture and traditional philosophies.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop effective working relationships.
- Highly motivated to learn and participate as part of a team.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to speak Anishinaabe an asset.
- Successful applicant will also be required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination prior to start date.
- Must have a current satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check, Adult Abuse Registry Check, Criminal Record check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), and Prior Contact Check as conditions of employment. (This does not necessarily mean you will not be eligible to work for SAI).
