**OVERVIEW**: Reporting to the Director of youth Transition Services, The Employment Program Facilitator is responsible for implementing the SAI Anookeen oonchiie kidaayying (“Work from the Heart”) Program for youth aged 16-29 in receipt of Employment and Income Assistance.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITES**:

- Develop and facilitate the Anookeen Oonchiie Kidaayying programming for groups of 6-7 youth per session.
- Accept and screen youth referrals to the program and complete intake interviews for those selected.
- Facilitate curriculum provided based on the schedule required.
- Coordinate with SAI team members to schedule trainers and facilitators for the program.
- Integrate culturally appropriate supports and access to Ceremony, Cultural activities & teachings as part of running the employment program.
- Monitor daily program attendance and collaborate with youth supports to ensure regular attendance.
- Manage group dynamics as part of group facilitation.
- Act as a positive role model, demonstrating healthy communication and boundaries.
- Provide one on one employment counselling to youth in the form of resume development, interview preparation, job search skills, etc.
- Connect youth with volunteer opportunities; participate with youth or assist youth to participate in volunteering.
- Build partnerships with collateral agencies in support of youth training, education and practicum placements.
- Provide transportation to youth for group programming or employment and training related purposes.
- Develop work placement plans to facilitate youth; oversee small group work placements.
- Act as a role model and teacher of Workplace Safety and Health matters
- Maintain Youth files by completing logs, keeping copies of critical information, filing information.
- Complete monthly statistics and reports

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Completion of post-secondary training in human services field; combination of education, previous work experience, lived experience and training will be considered
- Proven ability to plan and facilitate group programming including managing group dynamics
- Strong knowledge of government and community resources, including opportunities for funding
- Knowledge of employment, training and post-secondary resources
- Knowledge of critical employability skills and ability to facilitate appropriate skill development
- Understanding of how systems such as EIA, CFS, CLDS and others function; ability to support youth in navigating systems
- ASIST, NVCI, First Aid CPR, and other related trainings considered an asset
- Demonstrate knowledge and/or understanding of Indigenous perspectives, First Nations culture and traditional philosophies
- Ability to work with addictions, mental illness and trauma from a strengths-based perspective
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop effective working relationships
- Experience with child welfare and/or youth aging out of care
- Strong oral and written communication skills with excellent documentation skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to speak Anishinaabe an asset
- Must provide a current satisfactory Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector), Child Abuse Registry and Prior Contact Checks as a condition of employment.
- Successful applicant(s) will also be required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination prior to start date.
- Must a valid Manitoba driver’s license and a reliable vehicle.
