**General Information**

In alignment with the priority functions of provincial health improvement networks, the Critical Care BC (CCBC) Provincial Medical Lead, Critical Care Research & Analytics will play a key role within CCBC as a leader in critical care research, analytics, health system improvement and innovation. Reporting directly to the CCBC Provincial Medical Director, this role will work in close partnership with the CCBC leadership team and provide leadership and oversight of the research, analytics and evaluation portfolio. This includes informing, developing and executing a provincial critical care health services research and analytics strategy for improving health outcomes for patients and families accessing critical care.

CCBC aims to optimize health outcomes, enhance the quality and coordination of services, and elevate the experiences of patients, families, and healthcare providers requiring critical care services in our province. Key functions include clinical policy development and implementation, health system planning, data management, analytics and reporting, quality improvement initiatives, research, education and innovation. CCBC works collaboratively with regional health authority leaders, health system partners, interdisciplinary communities of practice, and patient partners to define strategic priorities and align activities to address needs throughout the health system.

**Specific Accountabilities**
- Lead planning for the scientific strategy for critical care research and innovation, plus health systems evaluation, ensuring alignment with the Ministry of Health and PHSA priorities.
- Advise the CCBC Leadership Team in the development and prioritization of critical care data strategies and requirements.
- Collaborate with clinical and operational leaders at the CCBC Executive Steering Committee and Provincial Quality Advisory Committee to inform annual planning and assist priority setting, especially in the context of research, innovation and analytics.
- Provide guidance on and facilitate establishing and monitoring system-level clinical performance metrics, analysis, reporting, and evaluation.
- Offer clinical leadership in development and design of health intelligence systems, data sets, and data management solutions, including communication with key partners to ensure design and operability align with provincial, national and international standards..
- Develop strategic partnerships with provincial, national and international health and non-health academic and research institutions to build a sustainable network of affiliations to support CCBC’s priorities.
- Foster an open environment that promotes interdisciplinary engagement and knowledge exchange through all levels of clinical and health systems research and analytics.
- Support, enable, and conduct health services research that advances knowledge relevant to improving critical care and clinical practice.

**Qualifications**
- Licensed by the BC College of Physicians and Surgeons
- Certified in Critical Care Medicine from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
- A minimum of 10 years of practice as a physician within critical care medicine
- At least 3-5 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare administration, epidemiology, quality or related system-wide experience
- Holds a hospital appointment as a critical care physician
- Masters or equivalent in the area of clinical epidemiology, data science, economics or equivalent is an asset
- Expertise in medical research or other related discipline
- Shown a history and commitment to research in critical care
- An aptitude for aligning with the strategic direction of the organization and fostering a collaborative team approach to decision-making.
- Proven ability to build relationships and sustain networks, including negotiate and mediate resolutions to complex situations.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and public relations skills
