**Job Title**: Gardener's Helper

**Reports To**: Head Landscape Gardener

**Job Summary**:
Under the direction of the Head Landscape Gardener, maintains the Park grounds according to standards of historical authenticity in order to enhance visitor enjoyment.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Tends all the gardens throughout the Park that includes planting, weeding, watering, fertilising, trimming and other tasks as required.
- Harvests the vegetable gardens and tends to grass areas as required.
- Provides information and services to visitors in a friendly and courteous manner.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Education**:
Completion of High School.

**Experience**:
Some job related experience and/or basic horticultural knowledge is preferred.

**Skills**:
Must demonstrate a willingness to learn. Good verbal communication skills and tact in dealing with the public, as well as in following directions, are both necessary.

**Special Clothing and Equipment**:
Costumes will be supplied by Heritage Parkas required. Washing and maintaining Costumes in a presentable fashion will be the employee's responsibility. Individuals will be required to supply their own appropriate footwear, to be approved by the Costume Department Supervisor during Park open season periods. Safety equipment as required will be supplied by Heritage Parkand maintained by the employee.

**Special Working Conditions**:
The employee must be prepared to work in a variety of weather conditions. A considerable amount of walking, lifting and other strenuous duties are required in order to complete work assigned. This position requires a person in good physical condition.

**Hours of Work**:
Various scheduled hours of work including possible weekends, statutory holidays, fluctuating hours and overtime as required.

Accident injury reporting.

Location of fire extinguishers and first aid kits.

Notify your supervisor of hazards and potential hazards.

Work safely at all times.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Seasonal

Flexible Language Requirement:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Morning shift
- Weekend availability

Ability to commute/relocate:

- CALGARY, AB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
