Child and Youth Program Director leads and manages Before and After School Care Programs (BASC), School's Out Day Camps (SODC), Summer Camps, and Youth Leadership Programs. Reporting to the CEO, you'll coordinate, implement, and administer these programs, ensuring they align with the YMCA Mission, Vision, and Values. YMCA provides Before and After School Care Program at 14 schools in Saskatoon and area, serving 520 children throughout the school year. During the summer months, YMCA runs 2 day camps serving over 100 children every week.

**In this role, you will**:

- Supervise BASC Program at 14 locations in Saskatoon and area.
- Lead BASC Coordinator, Camp and Youth Coordinator, and 70 part-time program leaders.
- Develop and manage programs, manage finances, participate in staff development, and collaborate with offsite partners.
- Create a safe, nurturing, and well-supervised environment for all participants.
- Recruit, train, support, and coach staff for all programs.
- Evaluate program staff formally and informally, conducting annual performance reviews.
- Act as a liaison with parents, collaborators, school management, volunteers, and visitors.
- Support program planning, communication, promotions, and marketing initiatives.
- Exercise strong decision-making and judgment in various situations.
- Set goals and objectives for programs and conduct program assessments.
- Provide staff with support, encouragement, recognition, and feedback.
- Arrange professional development for staff and organize regular staff meetings.
- Counsel staff on methods for dealing with challenging behavior.
- Ensure personnel guidelines are followed and support supervisors in conflict resolution.
- Model excellent customer service.
- Set up program registration and ensure policies and procedures are followed.
- Support parents in the registration process and follow up with finance department for payments.
- Communicate with BASC Coordinator for any registration changes.
- Approve hours for payroll and purchase required supplies.
- Maintain program budget, invoices, and receipts.
- Develop and update staff and parent manuals, program policies, and procedures.
- Establish positive relationships and open communication with school principals and divisions.
- Support BASC outcomes and implement feedback tools for staff and parents.
- Establish relationships with parents and ensure timely communication regarding concerns and questions.

**Qualifications**:

- Post-Secondary degree or diploma in Recreational Leadership, Child Studies, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 3 years related work experience in Childcare or children's recreational programs.
- Minimum 1-2 years' experience supervising staff and volunteers.
- Experience working with children with special needs, unique considerations, or behavioral challenges an asset.
- Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills.
- Proven knowledge of and experience facilitating high-quality recreational programs.
- Strong relationship-building skills.
- Demonstrated ability to coach and motivate others.
- Current standard first aid and CPR-(C) certification.
- Current Clear Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search (within 6 months).
- Class 5 driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel between school programs.
